RDWC reservoir

So I am designing my RDWC and am wondering if anyone could tell me a decent size reservoir to use for the 4 pail system I am building. I am assuming there is some kind of a calculation to determine size from how many litres your buckets hold? Or am I just nuts, lol, thanks in advance

What size are your 4 buckets? Also, use a waterfall system over air pumps and stones if you're still building it. You'll be happy you did.

Here's @J232 setup I helped him with

Thanks I am still looking into parts and layout before I get rolling, I saw your page earlier and that looks great

Personally, I prefer using totes vs buckets.
I've always had issues with roots clogging drains when I ran buckets.
Totes are much easier to use with bulkhead fittings so using larger connecting pipe eliminates root clogging.

I hope they work, but I got a goat as you said, a little smaller than a 5 gallon pail, I will have to paint them up though, I think they are 17 litre. So if I get a 70 lotre that for my res, should that be good, I want to do the waterfall trick as well for what it takes and costs, why wouldn’t I, did you say have a half inch end going into the tote for the waterfall. Is this for more pressure, I like the last set up on here

Sorry they hold more than a five gallon pail, they are 27 litre, I wanted to get something all enough, they had lots of short ones but not tall, this is the tote before painting with a 5.5 inch pod on top.image.jpg

whatever your water level in your res will be the water level in the buckets. wide and short vs skinny and tall.
