I cant keep a ph meter functioning right. I just use he drops now,
That's funny because I have the drops too, but I didn't want to believe my lying eyes. Drops were on point, reddish orange color. I always say 'golden is golden'. Nice gold color is usually where I like to be. Been saving up for a multi-meter I can just leave in the solution to measure ec/temp/ph, etc. Time to go ahead and get one. I'm pissed I did that to myself, but all you can really do is chalk it up as lesson learned.

I gave up on that style.
In the beginning of m first run roots were going crazy!
After a month growth slowed and I saw some drooping.
I pulled a few top buckets out to look at roots and they were browning up and some were falling out.
I used DM Zone and H2O2 back and forth and got back on track after scrubbing EVERYTHING.
Eventually the nasties made a comeback I tried bennies...nope.
I made it through that row by flushing every 3 ays and using zone and h2o2 all the time o the point of stressing the girls.
I tried another grow, new lines and bleached everything.
Within 3 weeks same thing.
Not even a chiller I bought helped much.
The ebb n gro and chiller are still in my garage collecting dust now.
I used tap water, maybe that was the difference...

I believe the key to keeping pythium away is mid 60's water temp. I run my chiller at 65. Some growers are able to keep the bad bacteria at bay with simply lower water temps. The only thing I've found to work in my rdwc system is hydroguard, and ensuring zero light leaks. I started with zone on this grow and changed to hydroguard when the roots were hitting the water. Key is to make sure everything is very sterile before putting it in the system so it's the first bacteria to culture which prevents other bacteria's from growing. I'm sure each diy system is going to be a little different though. Hook that chiller and system back up! :-)

awesome journal, I'm running a RDWC set up with 4 pots, Im about ready to flush, I know I run hydroguard and do not use a chiller and I run in the low 70 degrees with no issues. This is my first run, I can definitely improve on layout of my plants with a net system, (uneven growth) but all in all My girls are very healthy. I noticed in the flower phase they cannot handle a higher PPM nothing over 500. But just a FYI H202 will kill all bacteria even the "good" ones from the hydroguard. Do not use any H202 when using hydro guard, otherwise your wasting your time, also it takes some time for the h202 to disolve and go away. and for the PPM pen and PH pen you cant go wrong with the Blue lab.

Quick little update. A couple weeks left still, but looking good. @ water change out EC was 1.4, ph 5.9. Looking healthy, can't notice any deficiencies. We'll see what happens. Right now it looks like a frost field in there...

Well, they are done. Decided to chop them. Yield looks pretty good, smell and color are top notch. Going to hang them for 3 - 5 days then a series of buckets and maybe bags before they go into jars. Rh is only like 25% right now, so they are hanging in the same tent with it closed up, otherwise they will dry out too quickly. I'm currently working on some Silverback by in house genetics (gg#4x black cherry pie). Can't wait for the next one!
