Rate my amateurish lazy diy dwc ?

175 l tote x2 .
X2 air pump 2 outlets each
X2 4 pack 4" airstones

About 165 litres nute filled pH tap water .

Switch water into second tote with 165l fresh nute water when needs changed maybe 4 weeks

Basically check pH levels daily otherwise lst and leave to grow before switching to fresh tote 4 weeks late and then again 4 weeks later ?

Maybe grow 2 plants in the one tote 2 in seperate totes ?

Tent size 4x4x7

have you grown in dwc before? if not, res changes every 4 wks is ambitious.

I swap my res weekly these days. I used to go 10 days with the GH line but since I went to Jack’s I run a lower PPM and do more res changes when the PPM drops a bit low. I’d never go 4 weeks; too afraid the plants would use up their favourite elements quick and have to do without.

I don’t do top-ups anymore either. Tried it a few times but I always got twists in my fan leaves. Pretty sure the plants didn’t like it one bit so I stopped doing it. Even with a weekly res change I find hydro to be much less work than soilless grows.

My res is 40 gal (160 liters) and it can grow a lot of plants. I’ve done 6 big ones in it (in my signature) but I usually do more plants, just smaller. A big res has thermal mass which is nice if your room temps are off the ideal range. It has more buffer to plants taking up EC too. But it costs $$$ for every gallon you mix up. As a guess I’m going to say that, yeah, 175 liters might be big.
