Rasmussen poll: Nearly 1 in 3 Americans think a 'U.S. civil war likely soon'

This reminds me of a situation that happened while I was in college.

We used to have a spring event known as college days. Over the years it evolved from a day of picnics into live music on campus, etc.

One year things started to get out of hand and the police had to step in to keep the peace. There were lots of carloads of college aged kids in vehicles with out of state plates roaming around, getting drunk and looking for trouble.

Word went around that 'next year there's gonna be A RIOT!'

Sure enough, the next year there were once again lots of kids from out of town and they were looking for trouble- and they found it. There was indeed a riot when hundreds of drunken punks took up positions throughout a student housing apartment complex, throwing bottles at police, starting fights and generally screaming loudly enough that the road could be heard from a mile away.

The point of this is that if enough people expect something and want it to happen, it will.

Are we sure that we want a civil war? What would be the consequences? Who benefits? What would our country look like during and after such events?

That riot happened for no better reason than a bunch of kids expected trouble and we're willing to incite one for kicks.

Is that a good enough reason for civil war?
Saul Alinsky, Rules for Radicals. In order to install a new paradigm, chaos and calamity must be created and taken advantage of.

These folks think the new paradigm is worth the destruction that it will take. I'm not so certain that's the case. History has plenty of examples of worse tyrants taking power in the presence of a vacuum.

I think the current administration has read this playbook already.

I do hope our country is strong enough to withstand their assault on our liberty.

Radicals of both parties are vying for the same thing. Violent confrontation. This isn't a "current administration" or "left vs right" problem. This is an extreme polarization problem with radicals on either side vying for the same exact objective.

What objective is that? Domination of everyone else?

I want maximum civil liberty and opportunity for everyone in America, without the need to dominate others to do so.

Relatively few factions really want that, lip service or not.

Guys, I still haven't gotten my draft papers for the civil war tomorrow.

Anyone got any details? Alex Jones says Democrats are starting the civil war tomorrow and I haven't heard anything about it or gotten any orders yet.

I was hoping to get deployed to Bowling Green to avenge my fallen brothers.

Fill me in plwase.
