Why dont you sue him for false accusations? You already have a police report and witness with your wife. And mayb you can get some documents from the police and get your mother inlaw to write an official letter as evidence. Take him to court and sue his fucin ass, im sure you can get atleast 2 grand from him.

Smart man getting a lawyer. I know it sucks to have to pay out of pocket for what's essentially people starting shit with you but it's the smart thing to do. Just do what he says. If he's good, you should have done your research before signing his contract to represent you, listen to him and do what he advises. I used to work for a lawyer for a bunch of years. It was retarded how many would pay for advice then do something to shoot themselves in the foot.

And ask about malicious prosecution. Depending on your state laws, you could have pretty good grounds for a civil suit against the jealous ex who was getting the police reports filed.
