Radical Topping?

I have 4 that have been vegging for 2 months, they are around 18" - 24" in 5 gal pots. I need to take them out and keep them in veg while the others flower for 55 days. I only have 2 levels of 3' height.

How far down am I able to top them to buy me 2 more months of veg time?

As far as I know you can cut a plant all the way down to the 3rd or 4th node and still be ok. I will increase your veg time, and it will need about a week to get back to growing again, but it will work.
