Can some one who keeps rabbits for fertilizer explain their setup? Im talking about the rabbits. Ive had them before but never for just for their waste and it always involved kitty litter or cedar chips or something else that i wouldnt want near my girls. Basically how do you harvest the poop lol. Thanks

A long time back, I called around and found a couple of small breeding farms who were more than happy to let me buy the poop cheap. I help 'em clean cages once or twice a month also when I make my collection run out to them. I often thought about raising a few tho.....

How many do u think would be needed for it to be worth it for a small grow op? And is it best for veg or flowering? Thanks

I use rabbit poop to feed my worms...so the compost/earth worm castings are great for veg and flower. :) I've got a friend who has a pet rabbit and she collects the poop for me when she cleans the cage. I also get some stray food - seeds, etc - which the worms think are fine too. On craigslist, I've noticed several rabbit farmers who offer poop either for free or for a small price.

I have 15 cages and have raised rabbits for 25 years. I love rabbits!
Catch the poop with a screen so the rabbit urine goes through and separates from the poop. Worms don't like urine. Always turn the rabbit poop into humus by allowing red wigglers to munch on it for a while. The resulting black, rich humus is a perfect plant food that will not burn. I have grown 3 foot long zucchini with rabbit poop based worm humus. I have grown blueberry buds with this humus that are huge. Have fun.

I raise meat rabbits, they are absolutly delicious, organically fed and cute little fuckers you should try sometime, my kids wont eat chicken these days they want rabbit. I keep each rabbit seperated and keep a bucket under the spot the shit as they do in the same spot every day.

With rabbit poop its not nec. to compost you can already add it to your soil.. but adding it to your worm composter if you have one is idea as well.

My pet rabbit is one of the secrets to my success. I add his poop to my tea, along with molasses, a bacteria start (from FF's microbe brew and kangaroots), and some humic (ful-power for fulvics and leonardite for full spectrum). Brew it with constant aeration for > 24hrs (untill there is a good thick foam on top). And make sure you are starting with de-chlorinated water (and don't let chlorine get into your soil via tap water, it will kill the bacteria). edit: I have noticed that the alfalfa/timothy feed I buy for my rabbit also has a few species of bacillus bacteria that are also in Advanced Nutrients Voodoo Juice.

I still feed a normal nutrient regimen as well (mostly advanced nutrients) and add this tea about once every two weeks instead of plain water (in between feedings).

Adding extra worm poop to a worm bin is also a great idea to add as a soil amendment, as worms help other types of bacteria. and the worms reproduce faster in bunny poo than other food scraps. I also mix old fan leaves in with newspaper for my worm bedding...

Love the poo best fert out there. Wonderful growth harmones and they do taste like chicken which is the reason one cage is empty.
