Quiteing inline fans

How can I quite the motor of a 6' vortex inline fan enough so you can stand next to it and not hear it? I ve tried a speed control switch but the motor hum it still too loud and the fan doesnt really move enough air when it's not at full speed. I need stealth and power is that possible?

Thanks

try using a bungi cord to hang it from, instead of solid mounting, it helped me big time, hope this helps

Yes hang it with bungy cords, as a sound dampener. You could also build a dynomat (sound deadener) box hung also by bungy cords to house the fan.

i have one that i wrapped in dynamat and make sure you use insulated ducting

i have a growbright that is only 3 dB louder than a Vortex brand... the insulated ducting was plenty good for me. very quiet standing right next to it. outside the house the noise would be tuned out before it was ever even heard in the first place.
