Quick Soil Question

If I mix a batch of amended soil for supersoil but seperate it into 2 halves keeping half dry and not cook it and wet down and cook the other half for SS, will the uncooked portion be safe to use as a potting base without burning anything? Thanks.

No shit sherlock, I know not to use the cooked portion. Ive read the sticky. I cant find where it says anything about uncooked soil uses. If its not cooked, are the nutrients available as if you just added them to the mix? Or will the soil cook even if its dry? And the only idiot is you being a dick. This was a simple question NOT covered in the stickys. No one talks abouts uncooked soil being used or being HOT. Of course HOT soil will burn the shit outta the plants.

Why wouldn't you cook it. It's a east of good soil. When you would water your seedlings it would start the activation and burn the shit out of everything. Why not just do the math cook up a half batch and save the rest of the base soil to start off in.

somedude just cook all of it and use it as you need. Never plant in uncooked soil, and dont plant directly in ss. Its strong stuff "hot" so fill the container maybe 2/3 full and add a base potting mix ontop of that.

I take clones from the cloner straight into 100% supersoil. No problems, I even feed all through flower with no burning. I think you guys got some pussy plants. Or mixed your soil wrong.

LOL I dont have enough room for all the soil to cook at once. I was merely curious if I COULD use the pile of dry soil for potting or not. I NEVER planned on using it if its not safe, thats why I asked. I know COOKED soil is HOT, but is dry uncooked soil hot? It being more volatile was mentioned, do you mean unstable? Or is the concentration of nutrients too high regardless of being cooked or not?

somedude, if you try to use amended soil without cooking it, it will kill your plants, it would begin cooking when you watered and it is far far to hot for them to live in.

When the plants are very seedlings I go with shabang's soilless mix. From another site but originally from overgrow (not credited sadly)
[h=2]~shabang~'s worm casting method[/h] The mix that I recommend is basically nothing but castings and drainage. I used to cut it with all sorts of things, including soilless peat-based mixes like pro-mix.. but then you're introducing a source for pH problems-- especially when others try and duplicate it but can't find the right brands then substitute with a peat-mix that is too acidic. So down to the bare basics of a mix:

40% castings
30% perlite
30% vermiculite

yeah....lets keep it mellow.......everyone....sometimes we just interpret the language differently........we were all a nube at one time.

Its amazing how many people dont understand what I was asking, post shit about HOT soil when the question is about uncooked soil, then they assume Im a NOOB b/c I asked a simple question!!!!!!!!!!!! After a few years of hydro, using SuperSoil is a drastic change!!!!! Thank you BreadTruck for the answer I was looking for. I never said I was going to use the soil, just asked if it was safe. I never thopught it was, I just wanted to clarify my thoughts. I use peat moss/perlite mix to start seeds and rooted clones. Im not a fucking retard like many of you act.
