quick question on LST

I get the whole jist of LST growing. I know that you bend it down, and have the plant work it's way around the plant until it can't go no more and blah, blah, blah. Only thing is though, how far do I bed it down? I did read up on this, there was never a real good preference on how far it should be down. The grow FAQ on this sight shows you keep it at a 90ish degree angle, but I have seen pictures of people LSTing where it's not...is it all up to me really and how I want it to be shaped, or is there really a certain way to do it correctly?

It's hard to describe in type how to bend your plant. Experience is the key and after you do it a time or two, you will get the feel. I started out LST'ing on some bagseed. I did all kinds of crazy things to those plants and they just kept on growing.

I am a big believer in using LST in your grow, especially on sativas. I know this is not the answer you were looking for but I believe you hit the nail on the head when you said, "is it all up to me really and how I want it to be shaped", cause you are the one that knows your needs best. I don't think there is a "wrong" way to LST.

Just roll up your sleeves and jump in. Thats the best advice I can give. Good luck! :peace:

As long as the top of the plant is not the highest part of the mj you should be good. Once past the 90 Degree mark the chemicals inside the plant start to be redistributed and the lower bud sites all have a chance to become large colas. Just don;t try to bend your girls this far right away.Just train it down a little more each day over the course of 5-7 days and you should be fine. Also, you want to start this sometime between the early stages of vegging and the point where the plants base becomes really gnarly and difficult to work with. :peace:

yeah, I read that once it grows about it's third to fifth set of leaves I should start bending it down. I'm at that point now and I just started really thinking about it.

sounds all go in da neighbahood. i cannot believe the amount of colas you can really get from one plant! bend towards outside of pot then in a circular fashion around the outside of the rim using hooks. be gentle and you will get a feel for it
