quick question about lightng...

So I just started popping my seeds for my summer grow and they are almost all broken through the surface... I am starting them in a small grow box just to get them started. they will be in there for about 3 weeks. I have a timer somewhere but I need to know if it will be ok to leave my freshly popped seedlings under 24 hrs of light for a couple days? I am using 6500K high output T5 grow lights. the fixture uses 2ft bulbs and there are 8 of them. I have it about 10 inches or so off of the seedlings and i only turned on 4 of the 8 bulbs for now until they get a little bigger and stronger. is this going to work or should i really have them running 20/4 or 18/6 from the start? I know a lot of people start clones off at 24 hrs of light till they get good and rooted.

I go 24/0 till flower. Cannabis is a c3 plant and therefore only uses c02 while photosynthesising, c4 plants gather it at night to use during the day, but cannabis does not. So their is no need for a dark period for cannabis.

I have grown 18/6 and 24 straight. Both work fine. In your situation, I'd recommend you keep them on 24/7 because the difference in power consumption is really pretty minimal. I know it's a significant debate on these forums (18/6 vs. 24/7) but the way I look at it, the leaves are the energy factories for the plant. Their primary job is to perform photosynthesis. This can not happen in the absence of light. So I go 24/7 from the seed until I switch to 12/12. I think you really just run the risk of having them get sunburned as babies. If they have three leaves already, then I'd say keep doing what you're doing and you'll be just fine! Hope this helps and good luck!

you'll be fine doing what you asked. i use t-5's and love them! better than any led (imo, lol.) some people go the 24/0 route. i've always felt that we're trying to mimic indoors, what goes on outdoors. you know, light/dark cycles. it's one of those subjects that sometimes sparks profanity in it's explanation, lol.......
