Quick Q about first grow (with pics): repotting & possible problem.

Hey all.

Finally jumped through my last hoop and have the OK to grow legally for a medical condition. Big fan of the community here and it is where I gathered most of my info leading up to my first grow.

I do have a couple questions I am hoping to get some advice on.

I started from fem. seeds and have them in clear plastic cups. The cups are 18oz/532ml (I think a bit smaller than the red beer cups many use). I thought they would be good to help gauge the roots to determine repotting. My first question is:

When should I repot? I've read about waiting until there is a good 'root ball', but I don't want to wait too long and have them stunted due to being root bound. The plants themselves aren't that big yet (I'd say 7-9 days since they popped from the soil), but the roots are already on the side / bottom of the cups and easily noticed.

Can these go a little longer? Also, I was planning to go right to a 5 gallon pot. OK?

Secondly, the leaves on some of the plants are wrinkly / starting to curl. I believe it may be a bit of overwatering? It looks similar to some heat stress pics I've seen, but the temperature is almost always between 70-80*f / 21-27*c which seems ideal.

They got a good soak the other day as the soil was dry, even down a couple inches. I think I just gave them too much?

The plants are maybe 6" from the hood, but it is air cooled and the glass is only very mildly warm to the touch.

Using soil (obivously) that way recommended for cannabis growing. It is pH balanced with a mild nute charge so I've only used distilled bottled water with a pH of 6.5 so far.

Thank you all for any input.

Cheers!

you will tell when they are root bound when you have to constantly water them. I usually go straight into my 5 and 7 gal pots with no problems. thats all the advice I have for today

Repot at 2 weeks. And yes u can go to a 5 gallon pot if u know how to water. What i see u dont. Stop pouring water. Let the soil dry good. That way roots grow faster in search for water

Thanks both of you for the info.

I thought I had waited long enough to water. I think where I became confused was how much to water. The soil becomes pretty soaked pretty quick in those little cups, but I thought I should water until there was some runoff. So I added too much.

Thanks again.
