Quick Lighting Question?

so i wanted to make a small closet into a small veg room and i have a grow lab 60, i think, and wanted to make that the flowering room with a 400 watt system. the question is, for the veg room, can i use this light system for it?

will it be enough for the plants to maybe 1 to 2 feet tall and if i LST the plants would it still be good enough?

Just 1? No.

I think CFLs would be better, and cheaper.

i use a 4ft T5 that has 4 bulbs and it works fine for me.

well, the cfls i use are the 42watts and they give off eat. i would care about the heat but i have not vents in the closet. i was looking into the florescent one because i figure i wouldnt have to worry about heat. also i was thinking about putting two of them in the closet. they are only 10 to 13 dollars and i think they are t12's

Get T5's. They put off almost no heat at all so just have an oscillating fan moving air around and you should be fine.

thanks alot for the help guys, now i just need to find some cheap t5. i never understood what is the right lumens to use for veging

Ive doing pretty well using a 3200k warm deluxe MH 400w, personally i think a combination of MH/HPS at the same time would be best, which i plan to explore in the upcoming months,

I wish I had picked up a switchable ballast, or at least invested in additional lighting because i wound up with a very thick canopy and no light to help out the lower leaves, i plan to add at least a 250w HPS to my flower vertically so it can penetrate the foliage, and im not yet sure if im going go with a T-5 for Veg or CFLs

Mix it up and to try and fully emulate the suns broad spectrums

I can vouch for the T5 fixtures from HTGSupply, rock solid. They come with free 6400k bulbs too so you'd be set.

Okay guys, so I am trying to my a 2' 2 bulb t5 fixture from htg, my question is, would that be enough light to get my seeds to grow to a 1'-6" height. There will be three party cups under the light. I will be starting vanilla kush, Headband, and LSD.
