quick light question

u CAN grow with nearly any light
but in my mind i think they put trichs out as sunscreen, however there can be too much light i've heard
as far as how many lights or how many watts idk, i've never used cfl, best of luck

e/ i've seen people use those 3 bulb holders though, and they keep them pretty close

You want 100-150 watts (real watts not equivalent) per plant.
Common size of cfl is 23 watts, so around 7 cfls PER plant.
5x7= 35 CFL lights.

In my personal experience, you can't really over do the cfls. Just watch your proximity to the plant. You need them in real close to get good light penetration, the lumens greatly reduce over a short distance with cfls. On the flip side, if you put them too close you might come back to check on your girls and they will have moved/grown and are now burning themselves on the lights. It has happened a few times to me. As far as how many bulbs for five autos, I would go with 15X23 watt bulbs total. I know it sounds excessive but I'm thinking more late game. To get them out of the ground I only use one 23 watt bulb, through veggie stage they are in a box with (currently) 11X23watt bulbs. But now when you get in flowering that's where it'll really matter, you want to make sure they are each getting plenty of light. 15 bulbs would be three per plant, that gives you some maneuverability. Like one over top and one on opposite sides of each other. Oh and Y-splitters are your best friend man. You can use them to get just about any angle. I am relatively new to growing myself, and I found the CFL forum section to be super helpful. Just read the sticky threads. Sorry for rambling lol. Good luck on your grow!
