Questions

Ok i live on the east coast. the abundant source of soil i have is red clay. I have a compost pile in my backyard. Will a compost soil be to overpowering to sprouts also would red clay have enough nutrients it has very poor drainge quality from past experiences. i have 12 seeds germin as of yesterday. i need to know if i should just use plain red clay, or should i just use plain compost, or a mixture of the 2, or something else entirely? all suggestions are welcome and appreciated.

I also live east coast, go to wallmart and buy some cheap potting soil. I found a 10lb bag for 4 bucks.
