Questions using Eco Grower Hydro

Does it display EC too? You can use that.

From their site for one of their meters "The chip is programmed to use the international water standard 500 PPM = 1 EC TDS measurement"

So that would put it inline with Hanna's chart.

So with this unit that only displays PPM's, how do I use the chart above? Use it to determine what the EC is?

I use it as a guideline to assist me in gauging nutrient strengths, compare to others growing similar strains, and to gain as much transparency as possible. Some guys get by winging it -- when I was using a multi site tub and growing a couple auto's from seed with a different city's tap water, I could wing it. Maybe my first SLH seed is finicky, but at this point I need to know what's going on under the hood. You start connecting the dots when you make changes, observe, and document outcomes.

I placed this girl's seed into a pH'd tap water soaked starter cube on the 25th of November. This is exactly 3 weeks later. Got her first dose of nutrients at ~250ppm 2 days ago. Has 5 nodes and was topped this morning. Looks droopy bc she just woke up. I read my leaves too which is def helpful but you'll find that the consensus does not add more and remove later but rather, add less and add up as needed. That 3" cube is exploding with roots so I got the Hugo yesterday. I've been passively top feeding this plant just experimenting with rockwool as a grow medium b/c I think I'll be doing SOG next time and top feed irrigation. ScrOG growing is cool but the veg time is annoying and I doubt I'll do it again. Maybe once more...

Hey Major,

Plant looks very good------I'm amazed-----no nutes until recently.

I start seed in vermiculite cups and ~350 ppm (.7) nutes-----worked well for years.

It seems there is a very large nute strength "sweet spot" for cannabis.

Perhaps that's why some growers run upwards of 1000 ppm while others think that's insanely high.

This pic is of a run of critical kush I started that way and then moved to the cloner / pre-veg setup. At this stage (in pic) running 700 ppm (.7)

Oh man I fried my much larger slh plants at that strength. Which brand nutrients do you run? Lucas? Mine are primarily Blue Planet 3 part with all the fixings and these two from CX Hydroponics called Wilt Guard and Regen-a-Root with a bit of Cal-Mag. You are right, I was getting Nitrogen toxicity at 700ppm but I am betting I could run that strength if I could pinpoint which component pushes the Nitrogen to unacceptable ranges. In my last top off I held back on Liquid Seaweed and VitaBlue b/c they were both adding supplemental Nitrogen and were both unnecessary. Plants are liking the jump in ppm - I'm doing a res change today and am going to follow the same general ratio and up the ppm again.

That sprout though - I realize this now, I foliar feed my plants once a day. That's also a new strain for me, seems much heartier than my SLH and a terrible comparison since its in a different medium entirely haha.

Nutes are Advanced Nutrients 7/14 micro/bloom. Lucas (8/16 m/b) is a little too strong.

Foliar feeding with what strength nutes?

Never used the nutes you use.
