Questions on Steam Extraction

Hey RIU,

I had a few questions about the extraction of cannabis through steam.

I heard that THC has to high of a boiling point to turn into steam to be extracted, my question for you is:

if you extracted the cannabis in a solvent with a lower boiling point (such as ethanol, iso or butane) could you then extract that mixture with water through a still??

any thoughts?

(RIU needs a hash section lol)

Just thought I'd let you know, steam is used as the extraction process apparently. I looked at a clinic's website and they sold Royal OG Hash Oil – CO2/Steam Extraxtion – $40 a gram.

So I guess you can use steam to extract it?

Free bump because I am VERY interested in how this works.. Or even C02 extraction. This butane shits good but too much of a pain in the ass and too much risk imo

So seven years after the thread died and I just smoked "the clear" made by mahatma. They are claiming 0ppm residual solvents and are reintroducing stream distilled terpines to make for a serious taste/smell. This is next level shit idk if they are using co2 and just steaming what they put in for flavor or full steam distillation. Anybody know more? I think it's co2 extract and this is going to be the way of the future dabs great, smells and tastes better than anything I've ever smoked, smooth, and safer.

Just read their website.. It's closed loop n butane extraction and my mind is blown. This company is doing butane extraction at its finest if that's what it is
