Questions about getting a medical referral and potential databases

I'm considering getting a medical card/referral, but am concerned about something. Can employers, potential employers or anyone else checking your background find out if you're a medical marijuana patient? If so I'm not going to bother, keeping my job is a top priority.

Second question...my wife got a card last month and was told to bring in all her prescriptions. Being diabetic and having a multitude of other health issues, she has shitloads of meds. I only have one prescription, Indocin, for joint inflamation. May be gout, arthritis or a combo of both. Is that enough to qualify? I also have some back problems and go to a chiroprator several times a month. He's a health kind of guy, and would never cooperate in any way

I can't answer the first question.. I don't know what they do with the database and who has access to search it.

Second one... I was asked to bring in my medical records and prescribed meds as well and was granted a 12 month recommendation but there was a guy in there before me that had no medical records and no prescription meds but he was still granted a 3 month recommendation. I guess that it really ends up being the choice of the Dr that is seeing you though. I would suggest getting any documentation that you can find from your regular Dr. and a diagnosis from your chiropractor. It can't hurt just in case.

If all else fails you can call the place you are going to to get your rec. and ask them if the paperwork that you have is good enough. :)

Good luck!

Alrighty, got my recommendation. They asked me to bring in my meds but never asked to see them. I just wrote on the form what issues I have and what meds I am taking and got approved off that.

Indeed! At least here in Cali, it seems like anyone who wants a recommendation can get one
