Question Regarding Evening A Canopy

Hello,

I'm five weeks in from seed and am working on evening my canopy. Today I just repositioned my plant's placing the shorter ones in the center. Is this a correct course of action if I'm trying to get them to grow faster? On one hand I feel they get more light intensity potentially stimulating more vigorous growth. On the other hand, I wonder if the outside of a light footprint cause plants on the outside to want to stretch more. I'm not sure which is the correct thought process. It should be noted I have seven strain's in there and I do understand different sets of genetics behave differently. I am using multiple methods of training to try to stunt vertical growth on the larger plants while promoting more horizontal growth. Thought's? All insight is appreciated. Oh, the HID is on a light mover but it doesn't quite center itself on the outside plants. It comes close however.
