so i have 5 nice clones going just great, about 12inches at this point,,,i was thinking of cutting a few clones since its early in season...question is should i just cut the tops of and clone them or cut a few small ones and continue cloning them,,and will one or the other root faster for me..

great question. when i clone plants i always noticed that cuttings taken off the top of seed grown plants grew a little better than the lateral cuttings. they also tended to be straighter, with strong apical growth and more reminiscent of seed grown plants which have a long taproot, which is why seed grown plants tend to grow better. it's the tap root. lateral cuttings were not as strong growers, but you can only take those apical (top main stem) cuttings once. then you have to settle for the side shoots. as far as speed of rooting...i think that depends on your choice of propagation. i like the aerocloners best.. it's the mix of O2 and water that did the trick. a very fine droplet size, mixed with lots of air. when making your cuts remember the greater the surface area exposed to water the better the chance the cutting will succeed and produce more roots and a tip...throw away the root hormone. unless you just like throwing good money away. the plant makes it's own and if i can get roots in as little as four days without hormone you can too.

You can do either but for your circustance top them and start clone and bush out your clone....they will probably max out at around 16-22 top's per clone and in two month's........A special comming out party!! I have a month left....are you doing 30" plant's? how big a space? wattage? how many?...veged my clone's to 22" and bloomed...next time will go to 30" wasn't sure how much streech would be!! my max height is 5 1/2 foot.View attachment 2212363View attachment 2212364filling in sweet smell.jpg

well when all is said and done and everything is rooted , everything will be outside,,,i have a sweet sunroom that their in now...just looking for some advice on if topping the plant will be better then the bottom cuttings,if one or the other roots faster , and grows better after rooted.
