Question For the Care Givers

Hey guys, I noticed on the paperwork that includes my doc's recomendation includes a copy of my application on the back and if I was to become a caregiver for somebody else does that mean that my information would be attached to their paper work which has my name address, soc sec. # etc.? If so, is there a way to get around this because I do not want people walking around with all of my information like that.

Thanks

they need your info as well. and its no big problem other than the lack of security at the State level. I gave copies of my card, ss# and addy on a friends app to be her caregiver, no problem.

I know it won't be a problem but don't you guys worry what would happen if they lost the application with your info on it? Letting 5 people walk around with all your info kind of makes me worried about becoming a caregiver. Is there a way you can just send in the real info to the state but X out your personal info on their copy?

Get you some LifeLock. The dude on the commercial aired his social on TV. If someone does manage to steal your ID they reimburse you. If you're that paranoid there's your answer.

im not talking about the ID card, I am talking about the application that patients need to carry around until their card comes in the mail. I was wondering if their was a way to keep patients from carrying that information around because if they so happen to lose it then my social security and information will be out there. I am not paranoid, just wondering how the other caregivers feel about it or if they had a way to get around it.

I guess paranoid wasn't the right word, because I suppose it's a logical fear. There is no way around it, their paperwork will have your SS. I suppose you could talk to your patient and have them black it out with a sharpie or something. I wouldn't imagine that would make the papers invalid, most cops wouldn't even look twice at it. So there's another answer. I personally don't worry too much about it, simply because I couldn't get financed for a pencil. Not much more damage anyone can do to my credit.

Stoner, didn't you hear someone actually DID steal that guys identity. It was hilarious. The commercials with his SS number on them stopped right away.

If you are a good caregiver you will/should have your shit straight before you go into the agreement. Besides my patients, I dont care who else knows that I am a caregiver. The cops can find out anytime by checking their LIEN system in their car just have to search an address and hope they hit on an addy that is in the MMJ database.

I have 3 patients in Michigan and am not worried about who has that info. I am within the law and check every day to make sure that I am correct.

Google Charlevoix caregiver and Northern Express to see how picky and small one infraction can be.

The gratification of helping a 41 y/o MS patient is more than the worry of "what if" to me.

I don't think that is true. Where did this information come from? It was my understanding that the ONLY way LEO can have ANY access to the database at all is when they have a plastic card in their hands with an identification number. Then the only access they have is to call into the database with that identification number and whoever is running the database will then verify if its a valid card holder or not.

I am searching now to find more info...

they can not look up anything in the squad car, the information is protected by HIPPA and they must call Michigan's health department for the information. that is the only way to verify that the card or paperwork you possess is real and legit.

First, don't be involved with people you don't trust.

You can have them send all their paperwork to you and you can fill out your CG info and mail it for them. Your name and address will be on the back of their card though. I hate that but there is nothing you can do.

Hey all,

What's protocol in this game??

I've got the caregiver paperwork and I've also got a patient. I'm waiting for the actual card to arrive... but the paperwork is in order.

I've never talked to the person who is my patient. They haven't called me and I haven't called them, yet. Should I call this person - and how do I come up with a pricing scheme?

TIA

Thoughts on business registration and taxes too? How are you all handing the accounting and what-not?

Use a P.O. Box for your CG address... your SSN is only on the paper work. Then the back of your patients cards just have some P.O. Box and your location is not disclosed. Perfect.
