Hello again. Just wanted to hear from some experienced with blurple/led light distance from new seedling. I currently have it a 18 inches which is the highest it can go. Should it be closer? I've read so many different opinions on it and a lot of those opinions are of models from years past. In your opinion whats a good distance? Its a cheap 300 watt led.

My first two grows with straight leds in soil. I using 2 96 mars hydros with the 5w chips in flower I had them about 6 inches away had no ill effect on them.

oh yea? Some people online say 24 inches or more and some are saying 10 inches. Theses are just random posts I am reading when i google it and a lot of those posts are old opinions and leds have changed some. Just trying to get an idea.

I’m currently only on my fourth go around. So I’m no expert first two where strictly led in my 3x3 tent. Now I’m running a 1000 watt dimmable with my mars 96 for side lighting MH in veg and hps in bloom. I like the combo more then straight led

i am using the 2x2x4 tent and i am just looking to grow one plant in a 3-5-7 gallon and lst it. The scrog idea sounds good too. I have one other seedling outdoors getting about 5 hours of direct sunlight. Hoping to compare them as/if they grow. So anyway, i'm going to go by the 50-60 watts per square foot route and hope that should get one nice plant. I'll add extra light as i go.

18 inches is good for a plant in Veg. In flower mine get within 6 inches and occasionally touches the light. Manufactures recommendation is a good place to start. Watch them for stretch and heat stess. If there is stretch lower the light. If there is heat stress move the light back. :bigjoint:

ok thanks. so its been there for 2 days. Do you think i would have noticed a problem already or does it take longer? I did notice that the indoor seedling is about to sprout its second set of leaves while the outdoor one is still basically the same.

mine will bleach closer than 17" (and took some time to get em that close) but just backed off to 18"

depends upon the maker of the light as they all different and many China LEDs boast large wattage, etc. and actual draw from outlet much less then claimed

many China LED's burn very hot and are not very efficient (even when compared to an HPS)

so you really have to go with the manufacturers recommendation (mine now is actually about 4" lower/closer then manufacturers recommendation but am in late flower)

well its funny you should say that because i was just reading another thread where multiple people started with the led at first and had no growth so they switched to cfls for til the first two nodes. So i just switched to 2-23 watts 5000k cfls. Btw i went to wally world today and apparently they dont sell cfl's anymore.
