Question about seeds

So I don't want to pay the high prices for feminized seeds and I have a random seedling growing.
I have since purchased heavily seeded ounces of sour diesel im hoping to have success with.
I know theyre unlikely to pop let alone be female so ive got 2 small 6 spot bubblers to run constantly,
taking the shotgun approach since I could only fit maybe 3 in the flower tent.

Has anybody grown from "fresh" seeds from seeded ounces you've smoked? It seems to good
to be true to me the prices of seeds being what they are.

Heres a picture of the random seedling on day 11, could be anything its from a bag that's been piling up seeds for years.
That's why I bought the sour diesel so they would be fresher??? and at least to know the strain is nice.

Naturally occurring bagseeds will have a much higher tendency to herm than force made fem seeds for whatever reason.
Ive grown out some great bagseed, but they can be unpredictable in flower.
So, do you think since the flower tent is empty right now maybe its a viable option? But once I have healthy females in the tent maybe I don't want to risk introducing a/another bagseed plant?

Also I looked at your current grow RDWC and I must say, VERY NICE! I have a question about it for you. I noticed in one picture every plant in the buckets seems to be at quite an angle so im assuming you did it on purpose, but why?

I'd say it's a perfectly fine side project. I'd probably avoid running it with anything else.

Thanks. I've put a lot of work into it.
That's how I start their training. When I transplant them, I lay them down on their sides. A few days later I go back and tie them down to the edges of the bucket and top them.

There's no comparison to running some actually bred out genetics Vs bagseed. #1 thing for getting dank herb, is the genetics. First and foremost. That's one thing you should be spending money on.
He is right though.
Seeds seem expensive when you're looking at up to $10 per seed, but think of how much you're spending overall. Even a small grow will cost a few hundred bucks.
Spending the few bucks more on good seeds is very worth it.
One option is to spend a little bit of time to grow 1 seed out and make a few clones of it. Itll take a few extra weeks but you can make as many plants as you want from 1 seed.

You'll get passed all that. I snap main branches off getting carried away with trimming or training sometimes and it's just an "oops, oh well" now.
oh man ill beat myself up over that type stuff for weeks. so if I do buy quality seeds I think I would attempt to make it a one and done.
with a 2x2x4 and a 4x4x7 tent I should be able to keep the strain alive perpetually with clones right? would love advice on how many to have in each tent, and how many plants to do at a time in flower yada yada.

It depends on the bag seed. I made the mistake-very valuable mistake because I since have learned from it this year-and planted about 6 “bag seeds” from a bag of all the strains I frees trim, which wouldn’t have been bad if it weren’t for one of my plants getting bananas and seeding out, the seeds would have been fine, but since I had high quantities of male pollen right smack in the middle you can pretty much guarantee that the seeds were made by that pollen. And so my plants turned out to all be at least half wedding cake mixed and 3 of them did not do very well, the buds never seemed to mature fully nor did the hairs, and the other 3 weren’t that bad, just not at all as good as the clones or seeds we had bought that year. I did some research finally after I had found a few random seeds in my crop this year which I thought odd because there were no hermies or nanners. My research showed that if a plant is left in the ground long enough, or even if it’s getting towards the end of bloom, it will result to its last chance of reproduction and create a seed or two. Which I think because no male was used in the making of those seeds that gh

don't know about you but if i had to smoke the same strain for months or years, i'd hate it. i get burned out after a week or so on the same stuff and then it takes tons to get high anymore

10 bucks per fem seed for a QP is a bargain.
youre not wrong its still way cheaper than going to dispo… any advice on where to order the seeds from?

Great Lakes genetic (though itll take 3-4 weeks sometimes but they have the best promos), seedsman (essentially the walmart of seeds, they sell everything), pacific seed bank, true north, hell even ILGM is decent and cheap.
There is a whole subforum for seedbank reviews.

If you're in US. seedsherenow/ heavily connected seeds/ Neptune seed bank

Although I am US I've still only ever ordered from The Attitude and Midweeksong who are in Europe.
Solely because they sell single seeds and when you're doing feminized seeds, I can't see a point in buying a 10pk or even a 5pk...

So with how many INSANE PROMOTIONS they run. I'll usually spend $80-150(or just however much is needed to be spent to get their promo) in single seeds, and get like 6-15 free single seeds of all kinds of breeders. I don't need a free PACK of ONE strain. I'd take 6 single seeds from different breeders, getting 6 different STRAINS, than a 10pack of one single strain.
Any Day.

Seedsman has a service where theyll pack your seeds into a set of Lego things or something like that. Very well hidden.

I’ve grown so many bagseeds out over the past decade trust me they can be good if not better than what you buy from breeders seeds. All this stabilizing is for people who want a specific type. In fact I have never had one herm or rarely a male ... that being said , once in a while you’ll get an off pheno or a pheno you might not like . Like any seed. Most people will blame genetics for sub par bud, gotta say though some of the best smoke I ever toked was bagseed .. imagine that.

I think I will keep germing until I get 12 seedlings, I don't see myself taking the risk of buying seeds online when im in a great recreational state w a medical card as well. I should be able to find a place I can buy clones in person. I could contact people the old fashioned way but one of the main reasons i chose now to pick up the hobby is that its 99% legal so I don't want to take any extra risks.
