Question about nutrients.

Hey all,

I decided to grow my autoflowering strain in soil. I grabbed a Solo cup and filled it with a 50/50 mixture of mushroom compost and Hapi-Gro potting mix. Miracle-Gro perlite was thrown into the mix as well for drainage and such. My little seedling popped its head up yesterday and seems to be happy thus far. My question concerns the point at which I'm going to need to add supplemental nutrients. When to do this seems a little more unclear than with hydro. I've heard that one should wait three weeks or so before adding nutes, but I'm not for sure.

I'll be using Dyna-Gro (Grow and Bloom). What do I look for to know when I need to start adding nutrients? Also, should I invest in some Pro-Tekt? Thanks

IDK what ProTekt is. My guess is between the mushroom compost and other amendments you added you should be ok for a while. Maybe a month. Its easy to overdo it and when seedlings are so young like what you have now you can burn the roots. Okee dokee?

Your Miracle Gro perlite is dosed with time released nutes.
Yeah, I noticed that after bringing it home and taking a closer look at what I'd bought. After a little research, it seems that the consensus among most is that the amount added is negligible. You can actually wash it to get rid of the time released stuff, but a lot of people were saying that it's not necessary. It's too late for me anyway. I guess we'll see.

Thanks for the info. :)

Small but autos usually don't eat as soon as photos.

pro tekt is silica.
You should use this.
Especially if you have heavy yielders that droop over (like sativas that stretch too much)
