I got a plant outdoors that is getting too big. Mostly too tall. Im familar with lst but only from the start of the plants life. I guess im looking for quick run through of how i would train a large plant to stay shorted, while hurting my yeild the least. Tie the top down?..then stem is really thick and hard to bend. what you guys think is my best bet?

It's still pretty early in the season, u could pretty much do whatever you want. The least stressful method would be just to tie the top down. You could top a lot of the nodes, without problems. Really just whatever you feel comfortable doing. It will all work pretty well. If you tie it down, that would probably keep it lowest to the ground. If you think you might snap the stem, just kinda smash the stem where you want the bend to be. Good luck

If she is still vegetating you could FIM the tops(pinch off the uppermost new growth on the end of the stems) Or if you don't feel comfortable doing that you could tie down the branches as you mentioned. Both are good and commonly practiced options. You could put tent stakes in the ground and tie the branches down with some string. I like to FIM my plants, it controls height while making the foliage much more dense, which will increase your yield over all. All good options though, sounds like you got some choices to make, im sure it will work out for you whichever you choose! Good growing and Respect to you!

wrap thick string around the main stem winding up the stem then around a fan leaf somewhere about 2/3ds the way up and tie it to a brick. dont bend it too hard to where the stem collapses or breaks completely. if you feel comfortable doing the FIM technique, that would be the best solution, but most people are hesitant of their abilities. if you miss the FIM technique, you just wind up topping it... all of it works, just gotta find one that works for you...
