Question about cloning, timing, etc.

I'm currently a week into my first grow and I'm trying to figure out some logistics for a perpetual grow. I have a 4x6x6 pvc/panda film tent, 1,000 watt digital ballast that my six clones are currently vegging in. I plan on scrogging them, then flipping the lights to 12/12. What I want to know is, if I take clones from these plants right before I switch to 12/12, how long will I grow them in a cup of water and will they "over veg" while waiting for the others to finish flowering? Is this too confusing, or did I explain things properly?

So, about 3 weeks in water, then transplant and veg until the others are done flowering, which would give them 4 or 5 weeks of veg? That's doable. CFLs will veg 'em, huh?

like them said about 3 weeks to root than you just like 5 weeks veg waiting for the ones flowering to get done than clone the veging ones and flower themand on and onin your space it might be easier to do a seperat mother or 2 than clone a month before your ladies are done flowerng and flower the clones when they com out that way they stay kinda smaller. 5 weeks veg is a lot in a small space unless you lst or top em. some sort of training will be needed if you want to veg for 5 weeks. I would go with keeping a mother in a seperate room and clone her every 8 weeks but off schedual so your a month before the flowering ones are done

cfls will veg em nicely just keep the lights close. I would sugest you put the clones i some sort of medium rather than just water unless you have a air stone in the water maybe but you will have more luck with a rooting hormone and soil than just a cup of water... it will work but may take longer

For the mother plant, I could keep her in a separate space under CFLs? I still have plenty of Panda film left over, so I can build an additional compartment for her. Sorry for all the noob questions, I'm just trying to see how everything can flow smoothly.

yes a 2x2x4 space with a couple cfls will be great for a mother or 2 and clones.

What you are setting up is a grow operation. You are nowhere near a perpetual grow. You
cannot start a perpetual grow with one room and/or one light. Perpetual meets continuously.

I have 3 roooms to support my perpetual grow set-up. I have a closet set up with 3 cfl "grow" lights.
Each light supports a cloning dome and a heating mat. I usually have 1-2 domes going with 6-10 clones between them.

Once rooted, clones move to a bigger closet that has a 400W. set-up, my veg room. Maybe 4 x 6 feet, the veg room houses
2 mother plants, 9 clones and 2 autos as of today. The clones are from the Kushage clone mother. Taken in sets of 3,
I will move 3 each week to the flower room. The autos will stay in the veg room at 20/4 for their lifetime. So the veg room
is set up to supply 3 clones a week to flower, in perpetuity.

I have a big chalkboard in my 1000W. flowering room telling me what came in when. Using 7-quart to 3-gallon size pots
to finish in, I' looking to get smaller plants. I can comfortably flower 18-20 plants in the 8 x 8 room if they are in small pots.

So, every week I take 3 clones, move 3 rooted clones into the veg room and harvest my 3 oldest plants. That's a perpetual grow
and it is a lot of work.

Except for my disagreeing with your "roots must touch sides bit" which is minor and immaterial I agree with your points and like your set up. Good sound advice and suggestions to that poster. Also approve (big deal, huh?) of your 20/4 veg schedule as I do that as well since everything on earth deserves some rest and the result show it works for me. +rep for your sound advice which should help all.

moving the clones into the flower room every 2 months is still prepetual your just turning over plants more often same thing it's prepetual

Thanks, bigsteve. That's what I'm aiming for. I have the 4x4x6 tent, which I'd like to designate as my flowering tent and build another tent that's maybe just 3x3x4 for veg and another, small space for cloning, seedlings, etc. So, you're harvesting weekly?
