Quality Testing Costs for LP

AS I get farther into trying to become a Licensed Producer. I contacted a few companies that will be doing quality testing for the new MMPR. One says they rent the quality testing equipment for about $5000 a month ouch. You can kiss a small grow op good bye.

...company was QuantaCann guess they will be doing most of the quality control for the new LP's

Awe man that does suck.....Will anyone be able to do the testing than or will you still need a "qualified" person to run the tests?

Well that sucks lol. So the LP couldn't be considered the QA if they knew how to run the testing machine?

the lab that i contacted says 5000 is the rental price per month . that is for unlimited testing and to have the machine onsite they must train you to use it. It looks pretty idiot proof. Health Canada says ever batch that comes down needs to be tested. So i dont know what the company would charge just for one test.

No the LP must have a QA person. If the LP had the equipment and the QA has the know how, then the testing could be done at the LP's site

So what if instead of renting the machine you sent samples to QuantaCann for testing, would you still need to hire a person for QA?

Well the QA has to determine if the product is fit for sale. So once they give it the nod, it can be sold even if the lab work hasn't been done yet. The QA also has to write a report to Health Canada to verify the LP's methods, building and equipment comply with section 4 of the regs.

Ok think I'm starting to understand. So the testing machine would basically be for testing CBD, THC and etc. levels but the QA person checks for things like mold and etc.?

Sounds like it wouldn't be a bad idea for some LP's that are in driving distance of each other to get together and split the costs on these testing units.

I don't know, guess it would depend on what it would cost to have the testing done versus renting/buying the equipment and having your QA do it.
