Purple Wreck Phenotypes?

Anyone have any experience with reserva privada's Purple Wreck? Saw a few in veg, 2 looked like normal train wreck and one looked very purple on the leaf stems and udersides of the leaves and was far different from the other 2. All 3 are from the same pack. Are there many different phenotypes that can show up from this strain? Which one should be selected for cloning and mothering purposes and when/how do you tell?

I'd would take a couple of clones from each plant and then flower those clones and choose the best one for my mother, and there can be a near limitless number of phenotypes.

What are some good characteristics of a solid purple strain, ie, what would someone be looking for in a particular purple phenotype?

Hey huga i just finished one pw...Got the tw pheno (the stretchy one), you get strong lemony menthol odour when u grind the nugs (so addictive !)...The smoke is good but nothing special (very hashy and deep, not fresh as you would expect from the odour), gret bag appeal (mixed green/purple), pretty strong head effect at first, then u get couchlocked pretty quickly...However have yet to finish the cure, will post a complete report after 2 weeks...But if y were u i would keep the urkle pheno (the stouter), the yield will suck but u will have some full purple sweet grapey nugs...

Not sure which pheno I got but it barely stretched at all. There's like 1" between nodes and looks like it will finish as one long bud on each branch. Pics in siggy. Sorry on phone or would post pics

Out of the two beans i had i got one taller train wreck pheno that was about 30 percent purple and couldnt really place my finger on the smell, yielded pretty damn well. The other was like mrueeda said, the urkle is short frosty as hell with a fruity wine flavor. It was about 90 percent light purple 10 percent green. Yield was average id say. Id say about average length of high and above average in the power category but def not knockout. hope that helped a bit

I BX'd my Purple Wreck with some Grape Ape and OMG. So smelly like grape jelly. I can't believe how much it actually SMELLS like grapes. Start with your best male and best female and cross them. Then take that seed and pick your best phenos out of that. Then you can have 100 seeds and flavors and traits to choose from. But I'm just a botanical addict and can't stand not playing with the recipe a little.

Especially when all these breeders are now breeding garbage F1's with high levels of hermies. Stick with the trusted names that have been around a while ... unless you're a seed hunter like me. lol I have like 50 different 10 packs I've never even opened yet. I have to stay under 30 pants. 15 for me and 15 for my dad. But I will make sure if I don't crack em soon ... my local co-op friends will. Some do journals of testers for free and some charge. Let me know if you are a breeder and have testers. Washington state only.

Do the non purple in veg, train wreck like phenos, turn purple in flower, or are they going to just basically be TW? the purple "urkle" pheno, in veg, is very distinguishable from the others, will it be totally different than the non purple ones in flower, or is this differentiation temporary?

Mine was TW dominant and turned out pretty purple, i remember i could see some purple under the leaves already in the seedling stage, and when i harvested all the leaves were purple with green / purple buds...Though maybe a better solution could be taking clones from all the plants, you could even find an high yielding tw structured plant with the urkle characteristics, its nearly impossible to predetermine how your plant will end up just looking at her structure and colour...So my advice is clone all three and keep the one you prefer or spot the urkle one and keep that bcause the tw dom i had was nothing special...

Ya i def agree go with the urkle. it doesnt distinguish itself in veg any different youll just have to grow it up mate good luck!

i had 3 different phenos

1. trainwreck growth and buds smelt like fruity grapes to the fullest no purple tho.
2. trainwreck growth smells of grapes had light purple but just hues
3.IS the KEEPER urkle growth buds smell light to medium purple all the way through buds super frosty all the phenos were great but i only wanted the urkle dom pheno because thats what i was looking for

Good thing I found this thread. I'm about to start a big tent grow and am gonna do some Purple Wreck. Now that I know there's some different phenos I'm gonna look for the urkle ones and give away the rest. I plan on running a perpetual harvest and want all purple strains without having to drop temps.

The best plant of the 3 ended up being a sativa dominant, tall, phenotype. It only managed a slight amount of purple, but was so far superior to the other plants that it didnt matter. If you grow the PW, look out for this one, its a keeper!

to be honest it doesnt do it for a couple reasons. Only had a great interest because of the purple traits that were so hot years ago. Found more potent plant strains...found better yielding strains... and the grape flavor was a change but after the thrill of purple went away, back to whats better and best....you will see so dont just go with it if you dont have to. Fun to watch but a kush pinkish blueish is much cooler imo. had short purple, taller non purple one to...

my pw seedling is only days old and is showing a purple stem with a purple tint on the first true leaves shooting out. thought it wasnt possible because it was so early. i have four seedlings (all different strains), in the exact same conditions and the pw is the only one with a purple stem and everything else i mentioned. so, after reading this thread, i am hoping to have the urkle pheno as that what i a after. this thread was very helpful, thanks.

Dont worry my pw seedling made the same exact thing...it came out as a beautiful purple frosty lady...
