Purple strains- what's the big deal?

I may not have been around this site all that long, but what's up with certain people's unfounded, jaw-dropping, drooling fascination with buds just because they might be a little purple??? I've grown several strains in my 10 years of experience, and I have yet to be impressed by ANY so called "purple" strains to this day. I'm not hatin' on em, but it just seems like there's too much googly-eyed worship given to them just because of their color. There's a lot to be said of "bag appeal", but seriously......WTF?? Is it just me that notices this?

The purple color is just intriguing...has a devilish hue to it. Makes one believe its something special.

It's beautiful
lol, too bad its just the generic photo used for DP seeds heh

But yes, people see purple and its something they're not used too, thus they are usually willing to spend a bit more or seek out strains that have a chance at kicking out purple or blue hued growth. Some lower temps in the last weeks of flowering to obtain this as well.

I have a question. If you were selling, do you think that if you had a purple strain, you could sell it for more than the usual or would it go for the same as everything else? If so, why? No, I'm not asking for any nefarious reasons. Just curious.

Other than Master Kush, Granddaddy purple has been my favorite strain to smoke. Its the only purple strain I have had but it was a bomb indica, and I luv indica!
