Purple City Genetics thread

Apologies if this was already discussed... my local dispensary now carries Purple City Genetics seeds; any reason to avoid?
Seems easier to swing by the shop, instead of sending a money order and waiting... but perhaps too easy?
I find their seeds to be a bit pricey compared to some vendors (but also cheap compared to others), but the genetics they use are solid. They don't really "breed" per se, more like pollen chucking using elite genetics, but there's definitely fire in those beans.

thanks for the info! the dispensary just sent me a 30% off coupon due to their POS system being down yesterday (never mind my RSO order went through), so I'm looking at $94 (tax included) for six.

$100 for 6 fems is honestly overpriced, especially for a discounted price. Depends on whether or not you like what they're offering though. I've tried their Watermelon Zkittlez S1 and it was pretty good for the price I got it at. For $100 though, I'd look into CSI Humboldt, Bloom Seed Co, or Cannarado fems

Yup - seemed pricier than what I've seen at various banks; however, being able to simply walk in and purchase - without sending a MO, worrying about getting lost in the mail, etc. - could be worth the premium.

A buddy has grown a couple of their seeds out and he really like them. I grew their gelato 33 and mochi cuts and both were good.

yup - the dispensary has those as well... have never seen anyone purchase one, though.

I took a chance on one. Rainbow Belts seeds are like 300 bucks, i found a local PCG clone for 20 bucks (now 25), this is easily the nicest clone I've ever paid money for.

Granted, this is an Archive strain & not one of their own, but still, it's a PCG selection.

Nice! Any worries about viruses/etc. that I've seen mentioned in the Strainly thread?
You should always consider that as a possibility when outsourcing for clones. My experience so far has been great.

edit: on that note. also check the reviews and reputation of the dispensary where you get the clone(s), not just the breeder(s). Sometimes clean cuts are given to dirty dispos, so IMO it's not always with the breeder, BUT, that's where it all starts

False. PCG is one of the best teams out there when it comes to incorporating true plant science with the watchful eye of an experienced "legacy" breeder. Might seem like it's just pollen chucking on great cuts, but there's a lot going on behind the scenes there.

My local dispo typically sells their beans for $105 for a 6-pack.

They aren't creating stabilized lines, which is what I would consider breeding. How is what they do more than pollen chucking? Every one of their strains is just a cross of two other elite strains. No stabilization.

I mean, it is pollen chucking cuts. What breeding work are they doing besides reversing an elite cut and hitting another elite cut. Don’t get me wrong I like PCG and all, but elite x elite isn’t breeding, it’s pollen chucking like everyone else

Mine has seeds listed at either $115 or $92 for s six-pack; unsure if one is auto and the other photo...? They also have clones listed at $23/each. Tax is just a smidge under 16%.

You out in sd right?

my first grow. Got clones of Apple fritter, gush mint, papaya bomb, and nyc piff #3. About a month away from chop. Will try to come back with a smoke report, but that papaya bomb already looking yummy at 3 weeks in.
