Yah, I have problems with my air pump. I would like a very silent one as well. The one i have can be heard outside of my room despite where I set it at.
I use a huge pond air pump to aerate several reservoirs. It makes a shitload of noise. Vibration is the bulk of this. I hang it from the ceiling with a bungie cord.
hang it by a bungie cord. This helps to dampen the vibrations. Also helps to keep it out of the way of spills and such.
Also increase background noise in the area. Put an alternating fan in the room or a computer. Anything that would "mask" the sound and give a reasonible explaination for what is heard.
don't no if any body has had any problems with them but i've bin using 36ltr p/min hi-blo pump for about the last 10 months . and they are almost silent when connected up and pumps loads of air across my four tanks.
you can get a new bottom maount that is on rubber suckers , that one in the pic is the old style but the new mount helps a little with noise. that pump would drownd out my big one if it wasn't for the sound of bubbles. but i also have 6 hydor areo pumps like yours 1 has the old mount and makes a bit more noise.
