Prune during flower

More energy for the buds and they aren't necessary? That's kinda why I put it out there.
Leaves are what makes energy through the process of photosynthesis. They are not robbing energy from the buds they are making it. The plant doesn't just suck stuff up through the roots and send it to the buds. It's a complex process. Removing the leaves doesn't make more energy go to the buds.

Thanks for the reply! I do understand photosynthesis. My question is geared toward the bushiness of the plant and letting more light hit a larger surface. I'm high so my wording may be a little off. lol

Some people do selective pruning, some hack everything off, some like myself just tuck the leaves down. You'll get different opinions from different people but opinions are not science.

Also plants are smarter than people think and have adapted over thousands of years to be extremely efficient. If the plant didn't need leaves then it wouldn't grow them.
But, similar to your hair, plants grow more leaves than it truly needs. It doesn't just grow "the right amount', but, it's also important to consider that through flower, leaves aren't being produced by the plant anymore so the flowers do need them. Just, not "all" of them.

My advice, only pull leaves blocking bud sites, bunched up against other branches or buds, or are just in the way. Otherwise, leave em.

I was just watching something recently about humans and hair. And nobody can find any legitimate reason for butt hair as it serves no purpose.

Just thought I'd toss that in there for something to think about.
