totally ok :D i toked while i took prozac. i've smoked weed in combination with all kinds of stuff, effexor, paxil, wellbutrin, prozac, seroquel, baclofen, nyquil (which is GREAT if you feel like crap and cant sleep, nyquil + mary will give a really heavy stone that helps you sleep SOOOOO well)

i find that mary + psychotropic meds is actually a pretty good combo. some of my best highs were had while taking pills

people smoke pills . . . . look at oxycontin users . . . . . fucked up shit.

fuck that nyquil shit too, I'd only mix crap like that if I was a straight insomniac WITH all the bud I have (which has never happened, so I don't see any reason to mix such things . . . )

but hey that's just my view so it's all good. I just think if weed can give you what you need why mix other shit that isn't as good for you?

but back to the point of the thread, according to everyone elses posts in here moderate use with the stuff wont interact with cannabis.

and just because it's not using the same receptor doesn't mean it's not acting upon the same neurotransmitter . . . . such as dopamine or serotonin . . .

last I heard cannabinoid receptors act on dopamine, serotonin, and pretty much most messenger systems in the brain. which essentially means that ANY medication that acts upon these messenger systems through direct or indirect means (pretty much most medication) its going to have some sort of interaction with cannabis . . . .

but the main thing is these interactions don't seem to be too bad as far as everyone has said . . . . all i'm saying is that the interaction is happening, it's just not dramatic with most things at moderate dosages apparently . . .

No argument from me, I was being over-simplistic :bigjoint:

well depending on the number of reasons why a doctor prescribes someone prozac i think for that reason you are taking it is in the area you should take special attention... like for me they gave me paxil for anxiety, insomnia, and post traumatic stress... all it took was one pill and a bowl of some good and i was full blown tripping like i was dieing in slow motion or something i cant even really describe because thats how fucked up i was. Everyone responds different to medication. I think if you are just depressed or you got ocd it seems like it would work well with bud. But for other type symptoms i would use caution.

^^ for sure about the everyone responds differently part . . . . . plays a big role here.

never know if you're that guy who's gonna trip the fuck out off of someone elses normal dose...

lol there are strains that work perfectly for both your symtoms . . .

you just need some serious heavy indicas . . . like Hindu Kush

for sure that would work, anything with atleast 85% indica in the strain should help a lot, some will work better than others though :D

for sure dude +rep to you too.

indicas are so different from sativas, to people who have only smoked sativa their whole lives, smoking indica would be like them trying weed for the first time . . . sativa highs are very different. but relative of course.

I love sativa most of the day, but come 2-3PM I'd prefer to switch to indica entirely, sadly I didn't grow enough last year, this year I probably will wish I grew more sativa :D

yeah i agree with you on that one! sativa is more of an early day stone while you want to pull out your indica stash around dinner and pull out the chips and put in nazi zombies!

Hey Rain, like most people have said, there is no clear answer cause everyone reacts differently to weed and to prescribed drugs. You should just give it a try yourself and see how you feel. You do want to be careful when mixing any drugs meant to alter brain chemical balances with weed... in a lot of cases they can end up basically cancelling each other out (that's not to say you won't still get the feeling of being stoned from the pot) Also, combining multiple drugs might really lay you out or end up giving you a different high than you are going for. Don't worry, that dosage of prozac and a bit of weed isn't going to hurt you or anything, so don't be afraid to try it and see how it effects you. In most cases, my rec and that of psychiatrists I have discussed this with will flat out tell you to go with weed or meds, but not both. It's a decision you've got to make yourself, but I think you could do a lot better with the weed. You said it's for anxiety which there is no straight treatment for so they end up prescribing anti-depressants (like Prozac) that will help, but it's only treating the anxiety as an umbrella symptom of depression...

I have nasty anxiety myself and after trying a few antidepressants in my teen years decided to switch over to pot only. For me, the weed helps the anxiety so much more than those meds did, they always made my head feel really messed up in the bad way... and it doesn't surprise me considering I was taking a pill ultimately meant to treat something else.
