pros amd cons of growing autos

Pro's :

- Will induce flowering automatically
- Thus is good for quick outside grows, multiple times a year
- Also good indoors if you haven't room for a veg and flower room

Con's :

- Yield is usually lower (for logical reasons)
- Sometimes the ruderalis genetics lower potency or taste versus the regular version with no ruderalis
- Many are one time grows, and so they're not suitable for mothering or for cloning
- Certain strains are known not to flower automatically, which voids the point, most do, some don't

Autoflowering has its place, and can be very handy for many people. For some it'll never be considered, but hell, if you have a good supplier with good genetics, go for it and see how you find it etc.

Photo I took today of my experimental Fast Bud #2 (Auto), exactly 3 weeks 3 days from breaking soil:

I have for the first time tried autos and have several at 6 wks. Nirvanas Bubblelicious auto, Auto Mass (75 day) Grasso- matic, and Critical Mass auto/ dinafem. Im a outside grower and have been for years. I dont know the length of growing time with these strains. All of them are flowering and doing quite well. I germinated in May. The bubble at seed site said September. Just want some advice from auto growers and their expierience with this.bongsmilie

With autos it doesn't matter what time of year you germinate, as long as you have the climate for it. Since it is autoflowering, it isn't reliant on seasons/photoperiod like regular. I think the typical average from start to finish for most auto's is 8 - 10 weeks from seed (potentially longer for a sativa-dom, per tradition). I'd expect the ones you germinated in May will be ready end of July to mid-August.

Thanks for the info my friend. I ordered my seeds for the first time online. They also sent me White Widow dinafem seeds. They were germinated at around the same time in May. Can u give me some info on that strain. And they are flowering also.:leaf:

I looked up white widow auto by dina on my usual seedbank and according to them the main notes are:

- Genetics: Critical + Autoflowering X Original White Widow
- Higher than average amounts of CBD.
- Yield: 40 to 160 gr (thats around 1.5oz to 5.5oz) (doesn't say if thats per plant or m2)
- Height: 50 to 110 cm
- Duration: 75 days from seed to end (circa 2.5 months)

Marketing: "From Critical +, DinaFem White Widow Automatic Feminized gets an extra boost of CBD to temper the more psychoactive properties of Widow to create an intense, physical buzz that’s truly relaxing! This strain was tested and refined over a two-year period to ensure uniformity, stability and quality." ... which is interesting for reference, but don't take marketing as gospel, lol.

I didnt think the widow was auto as it never was said to be. The Critical definitely said so. I was under the assumption that the seed was regular type of seed. But it is also flowering. Interesting. Im old skool. Ive always grown that way. In the late 80"s and 90"s we just had kin folk that was our seed bank. And you could bet your last $ it was Crip. I still put out a patch of REGs this year. 13 wks But the autos really have my attention.:leaf:

I could be wrong, but it looked like Dina's White Widow was only available as an auto, but don't hold me to that, so I am making an assumption. Auto's used to get a lot of bad press before, but these days they're a world apart and now feasible to consider with good results. Its like anything else, there are crap strains and there are those that you can barely tell the difference from its original with regards to taste etc. Try some variety, see which you like most etc. Definately a handy option, plus if you grow auto's exclusively you only need one grow room, versus a second flowering for the 12/12's. I'm growing two strains of auto at the moment as part of my own discovery into them hands on, Fast Bud #2 (and I think its living up to its name), and Black Jack Auto (Sweet Afghan Delicious Auto x Jack Herer). When I harvest them in due course I'll post a review on both, purely to add to the info pool etc.

If you grow outdoors you're laughing, as you can get more harvest cycles in a year using auto's due to its seperation from its reliance on season.
