Word on the street is Franchise seeds is not providing descriptions or lineage of their upcoming lines . They are proprietary . How do you feel as a consumer ? Is it okay ,right ,wrong ? They do not want their work to be dupped by other breeders, people etc .

It's all about the end result. But then again some people want to know some of the characteristics and intended effects their.. ahem...medicine provides.
As far as growing, flowering times etc, they're usually optimistically inaccurate anyway.

Yeah but knowing the lineage is part of the cataloging and having your strain known. Can you enter a cup without the lineage being known? I don't think you should be allowed to...copy their genetics? Come on! Literally you could have two plants of the same strain and they could have totally different offspring. I mean damn, If I want to grow unknown genetics, I will just go buy some GSC Nugs and get a fortune

Next logical step is patenting "their" strain, so no one is allowed to grow it without prior consent..just like Monsanto...douchy path to go down..

Exactly,,,,copy. Now you can see why there are so many GSC's out there.....
So they ain't going for a cup,,,,,,In reality,,,,I may just sit back and wait to see what someone else does with them before I popped $ to find out an unknown..Then again, what if they hit with the quality of a now gone 4x Sour Diesel and you get left out?
Hard to say. I would have to read a description of the plant and a grow/smoke report.....no great loss to spend a few bucks and see......Unless they get stupid like Doggies Nuts in pricing!

I think they are going to be high like rumor is 200$ plus for a pack . I think that's what the word was on Firestax

Crazy. And this discussion just leads me to question the other genetics companies who may tel you the lineage, but come on, you never see any grow logs? So you may know the parents, and even what phenos of the parents the breeder used, but if they aren't tested...you could have 5 different phenos in 1 pack. Like the OGKB crosses I have seen, 150 a pack but I have never seen anyone grow these. Or SwampBoys, who are well known true, but does that mean they get to charge 150+ a pack for non-journaled stuff? When you could go to a breeder like Karma or Bodhi and get 2 packs of their proven genetics?

I like Dr Greenthumb - a lot! I pay high$ for his genetics.....I know the guy, so you may say "unfair". But, I met him in a chance meeting....We had a lot to say and I ended up testing some of his strains for him.....I still do....I still come back and pay for his top shelf work!
But, yes....It's hard to spring the big $ for an "unknown"......

Yes and Dr. Gruber has journalled just about all the Greenthumb strains with weekly photos, a smoke report and lab analysis at the end

I see nothing wrong with it, particularly if the price is good. Obviously if you are buying to breed you would want to know the genetics, but if you are a home grower for personal use then who cares.

I also dont see anything wrong with a company wanting to protect their genetics from being copied by one of the many hacks that seem so popular in the seed business.

As far as entering the cup, its a marketing sham anyway.
