Height, Veg and Flowering

I want to find out by asking you if the description of the strains you have grow matched the real situation. I am talking about plant height and flowering period. I don't know why but i have a feeling that the seed sellers are providing exaggerated details when describing a strain. I guess they want to make you feel amazed by the product you are about to buy.

When talking about height, i don't think some plants will ever reach 200cm in normal conditions. I reviewed some strain descriptions over the past days and i think many of them are just written to make you think they are possible, but they are not.

Regarding the flowering period i think they often make it shorter to make you think you will harvest earlier such as 50-60 days, when in fact the average flowering time can be as much as 90 days.

The veg period is another subject that can be taken in account when they tell you it can be as long as just a few weeks, when in fact a decent veg duration must be 8 weeks (2 months).

Please tell me what do you think about those things considering your growing experience and other informations you have gathered so far.

Thanks

There are breeders whose descriptions you can trust; however, when it comes to flowering times etc., there are way too many variables that affect how long it takes for a crop to finish.

PPFD, humidity, temp, growing style, etc., so unless you can mirror exactly the breeder's environment, don't rely on breeder estimates (and don't even if you can mirror their environment).

If you think 8 weeks is the minimum time for a decent veg time, it suggests you're either growing fucking monster plants or your growing style of choice is conducive to slower growth. That is a perfect example of what I'm talking about.

Not so much when starting from seed because you can get different phenos out of the same pack. The two strains I’m doing currently were supposed to be about the same height and flower time. One leaned heavily indica and is half the height of the other. It’ll finish prob 3-4 weeks earlier too. Same environment, same res for all of them. Genetics plays a big role and if it’s not stable you’ll have to experiment to find the keepers before expecting repeatable results. Like ec121 said above, veg time is more about your environment and medium. I can’t go more than 3 weeks veg for 4 plants in rdwc in an 8x4 without overcrowding

Never had one finish when the breeder said it would. I can't comment on height, because I've never grown the same strain indoors and outdoors, but Ican say that outdoor plants get much larger than indoor plants. That may be do to the fact that outdoor plants tend to grow over a longer time period, and there are height issues with most indoor growers.
