proper seed planting

when germinating seeds in soil, do they have to be placed in a certain manner?

my best seedling was loose in the soil. upon inspection i found the main root had formed a "horizontal horseshoe" in the soil before penetrating down, making it unstable even tho it looked beautiful.

I have never done it, but I would think tip down, as the shell kind of opens like a clam with that back as a hinge?

if you look a a seed real close you will notice one end is pointy and the other has this circle on it the pointy end goes down the circle should point up. good luck:joint::hump:

I always germinate, weed out the slacker's. The small slow growing. Then plant when about an inch long, about 3/8 - 1/2 inch deep, poke a small hole and put root down.
