Proper harvest this time. Is it ready? pics!

Hey yall, the last time, which was pretty much my first harvest ever, I harvested too early and it didnt come out too well. So now I wanted to leave it up to the experts here at RIU to give me an opinion on how many weeks I have left. I would like a slightly couch lock type high. thanks!

it started flowering around 8/2/08 and is about 4ft tall (stretched a little more than I would have liked it to haha). these are pics of the biggest cola on it.

its the tricks u wanna watch out for clear/cloudy - heady high,, amber - body stone..

thanks, ive been checking out the trichs and been looking up pics for reference but i dont know if my radioshack microscope magnifies enough for my eyes to see...they all look pretty much clear to me haha. maybe that will change in a few weeks and i will finally know what amber trichs look like.

the strain is some kind of OG. my old roomate got the clone from a dispensary nearby and didnt get the details for some reason. but now i found a more reputable dispensary with better clone genetics, so i have a few more in the bullpen flowering that i know more about haha.

yeah. the place my roomate went to was in hollywood, and when he brought it, it was in pretty bad shape. not to mention spider mites, but it was my first ever clone so i didnt know to look for all those things. but the place i go to is in reseda. if you go to weedtracker look up the places there. i dont really want to say the name, but if you look at which is the most popular in reseda you will find out

. so far all the clones from them have been pretty good. pretty much anywhere in the valley is going to be a better place to get clones than in hollywood.

Real nice looking plant! Are you still on 12/12? If so drop the photoperiod to below 10 hours even as low as 8 for a week. This will cause them to ripen up real quick if they're not quite there yet. Even if you can't see the trics enough with ur microscope you should be able to see the amber tinge across the whole bud when they are done. Thats assuming you want a real body stone though. Def drop the lights tho, if u keep some plants on 12/12 the whole time they will take weeks to finish properly.

thanks again. i wish i could try out the 8hr cycle but i only have 1 box with 1 light with 6 plants that are still on 12/12 haha. and should i be looking for the amber tinge while its under the hps? im asking because everything has a warm orange look to it under that light and i can barely tell. should i take it out under some cooler floros and scope it that way?

I have been looking everywhere for a good microscope/magnifying glass and i cant find one anywhere, and i cant tell for the life of me what color my trichs are. You said yours was from radio-shack? the one near me didnt have anything. I was going to order one online but i think my plant has been ready for a few days now, so i dont really want to wait for it to be shipped before i harvest. but i wouldnt want to harvest too soon either.

yes sir, i got it from radio shack. heres a link to what it looks like from their website, its a little difficult to use if you are trying to look at the trichs straight on the plant. the best way to do it is to cut a small piece off and look at it on a table or some stable surface. i hate doing that tho bc i think im stressing them out by cutting off parts of the bud even if its a tiny part haha.

Haha the comments are hilarious, thanks alot i am just going to order one online right now. And i never thought of cutting a piece and looking at it, i have a cheap magnifying glass and i was trying to look at the plant itself... hard to do when its swaying my big buds when i was bumping it by accident =]

Try using a full spectrum or daylight CFL up close when you are using your scope. That yellow tinge from the HPS isn't helping your view at all.

And how about those LONGHORNS, baby!!!

this is my first grow and im having a hard time determening when to harvest. my plant is 16 weeks and about 40-50% of the hairs are red/brown. are the hairs and tichs the same thing? if not is it common for the hairs to change before the tichs. i have a magnifyer but i dont really know what im looking at. please help

nice plants man-good job.
monitor your plant for a few days more and when 50% of the pistills have change color(white to brown), then it´is time to harvest.

Don't go the the trich color under your HPS because it will give them an amber tinge. In the pictures of you plant in the yellow/ornage HPS light it looks like you have a good % of amber but the pictures in regular light look like you have mostly clear/milky.

If you like couch look I would re-check again in another 10 days.

hairs and trichs are different. in order to really see the trichs you gotta get like a 30x-100x microscope. 30x if you have like uber good eyes. i usually look at them under 60-100x using the cheapo radioshack scopes.

thanks roxi, yeah i think ima let this one go deeper into the couch and harvest possibly the middle of next week. maybe even over the weekend. gotta build a proper dry box. for some reason hang drying them in an empty closet wasnt working for me. last one still smells of hay even after cure. i think they may have dried too quickly. trying not to make the same mistake this time.

hello again, this is an update with pics. it is now 10 days from the last time i took a pic. its a different cam and it is also flash fill (cant really get a proper pic without flash with the HPS). but, if possible, can anyone tell if it should be ready by this weekend or not?
