Couple things to note.....

Arizona Department of Health has 120 days from November 29th, 2010 to implement a standard operating procedure for prop 203. Dispensary and medical card applications probably won't be approved until around Spring. AZpatients.com is a website from someone who is opening a dispensary in Phoenix. They have a pre-registration that would help you obtain your card when eligible. They already have a network of doctors that are willing to write recommendations.

About cultivation...obviously you are not permitted to grow until you have your med card and even so you have to have approval from AZDH. In order to be eligible, you would need to be outside 25 miles from your local dispensary. From what I have heard, dispensaries probably won't start distributing medication until summer of 2011. Not sure if they would permit personal cultivation until that time but possibly around March.

I know a lot of you suffering desert rats want to get to work on your grow ops but be careful until you get your card. This initiative is very specific on personal cultivation and not everyone will be permitted to grow. Just be safe...especially now that Arizona is on the Drug Enforcement Administration's radar. Those in Maricopa County be aware of Joe Arpaio and his deputies because he did oppose this measure as well as the entire red Arizona government. Good Day everybody!

Arizona voters have passed this twice before and it never made it on the books. Hopefully this time the elected legislature will honor the intent of the voter.

I understand that concern but this will go on as planned. For one...after 1998 when that initiative was overturned we passed another initiative that makes it impossible for the Arizona Legislature to overturn future voter initiatives. Next...the Marijuana Policy Project after 14 years of States with MMJ policies...they have learned the mistakes of past failed/current initiatives and have wrote a pretty airtight policy. Lastly...even though I know the federal government is still raiding MMJ States. They have changed their stance and won't prosecute whoever abides by the MMJ laws of their state. Remember...this was the Arizona government's reason for overturning the 2nd initiative because of the Clinton Administration's threats to arrest doctors/patients who prescribed cannabis. I am pretty positive this will stick this time.

I hope you are right. I think medical cannabinoids should be available to anyone that needs them. Unfortunately, too many people won't admit that they smoke for pleasure or relaxation and will try to abuse compassion laws. I'm after the decriminilization of marijuana altogether, but I like to see states take up compassionate use laws out of concern for the ill. It also shows that a growing number of people are accepting the fact that marijuana has medical properties. It is just not for pot heads anymore.

I am definitely surprised that prop 203 was as close as it was. I thought that it was going to win easily going off of the history of the state with this issue. When it was down on election night and throughout last week I was very discouraged. I was very surprised how it fought back and prevailed. It just shows you that cannabis is no longer a partisan issue since the voters here completely voted conservative in almost every seat available.

As far as the medical thing. Up until prop 203 was winning....we were the minority. I was constantly being told that there isn't medical marijuana and that this is only a backdoor to legalization. Obviously...California after 14 years of prop 215 and being liberal in nature is a lot more accepting to marijuana having medicinal properties. Now that support for 203 is the majority now...people in Arizona still have concerns over abuse of the system. Most here still believe that if you get a script...you are a pothead. Until time passes and they see what ailments cannabis can help I will look like an abuser to the eyes of most. Apparently you need to be on your deathbed or riddled with HIV or cancer for cannabis to work or be accepted by most here. Oh well....I will get my script and laugh all the way to the dispensary or the hydro shop...whichever I prefer.

I hear ya there soon enough alot of people are gonna be poppin up at doctors offices getting what they want. I think i read that if u have a chronic pain u can still get a card. Im just wondering how many many people are actually gonna be making up pains to get the card? plus u still have to go through the azdh jus to get a card, lol so im really wanting to see how thats gonna work out. but im gonna be in line
