Problems making Hash, Help Please!!!

Hey Guys,

I just completed my first harvest last night & I want to make hash from the remaining leaf matter. I bought a silk screen, and placed all the trimmings in the freezer for a few hours. From what I have read, after the leafy matter freezes for ~2 hrs, you can put it on the screen and begin collecting the remaining kief. This doesn't seem to be working, there is nothing coming through the other end. Do I need to dry the leafy matter in a different way? Any advice would greatly be appreciated!!!

I used the freezer method before (works ok but best to wait for leaves to fully dry themselves) what size screen did you get? Its not so much the "leafy" matter its the trim you clip off the buds that hold the trichomes. Was it leaves or the clippings you tried sifting? If it was the clippings how much did you try sifting? Was it a big trichome producing plant? It takes alot of trim to get a decent amount of tric's to make hash. If your just starting out you prob would of been better of buying a small keif box IMO.

Edit: When you have a problem its best to give as much detail as you possibly can on here so we can help you out

Hey...the screen size is unknown. I just went to Hobby Lobby and bought the screen there (it was part of a t-shirt making kit). I saved all the trimmings and parts of the smaller leaves. The big fan leaves went in the garbage. I just left them all freeze for several hours then just started placing sections of the matter on the screen. Perhaps I waited to long to do this, because the matter became fairly soft. Should I just try again, or should I dry the trimmings over a few days instead? Thanks!

Dry your trimmings before freezing. Freezing right after cutting does not allow the leaves and trim to become brittle enough for the trichs to come off. Put all your scrap into a paper bag for 24-48 hours, the dryness and absorbency of the paper will help a lot in speed-drying the cutoffs, then freeze for a good 2 hours or so, then try sifting.

Let em dry out and try again friend, the best place to go for the screen is a fabric shop (a lot of fabric shops already have them preframed) also try useing a spoon and kinda smear the leaves across the screen but not to hard. If you dont think it works when your buds get dry roll a couple across it, it should drop some trichomes :weed:

Its not the easiest thing at first, when I started out I got maybe half gram of some hash from an oz of trim. Each time it gets better just need to find your own technique, smoke a little watch a few vids on you tube or any grow vids you might have. :bigjoint:
