Hi,
1 strain I always grow that is a heavy Sativa influence has developed a problem that I have not come across before ,
The plant is otherwise healthy and looking like it will bring me a decent yield,
At the top of some of the bud sites there appears to be extra growth(flower stretch), I am concerned,
other ppl have told me that this is called "fox-tailing" but offered no real explanation or reason or indeed any fix or "what to do"?

I have added plenty of pictures and would really appreciate some help , is it safe to cut these bits away ? as with lower bud growth I often trim away ???
Anybody else have this problem ?
My grow environment is bang on and I have included other pictures to show it's not an issue with any other plant ....

Thanks in advance for any advice given ,I will Rep for decent advice ,
If you do not know , please do not post....bongsmilie

That is not something I have seen before. I had an image in my mind of what I was going to see when I looked at the pictures, and that is not it. Foxtails I've had were still clearly part of the bud, yours seem to be on their own little stems.

My advice was going to be leave them on unless you have height problems. I stick with that. The extended bits may be small, but I doubt they'll be airy. They're at the top after all, near the light.

The reason I am thinking they will be airy (just those bits not the main cola's)is because they are about 2 weeks old since it started so there is no way on earth they are gonna mature before the rest of the plant is ready in approx 3 weeks, this is why I wanted to cut the bits away ,
It's got me stumped

Yeah, I hear what you're saying. Seems to me though that you're gonna potentially stress the plant if you snip them off - which may negate any benefit you get from cutting them off. Leaving it be seems the most sensible course with it being so close to finish.

Whatever you choose, be confident with your choice - no point wondering what if.

Well I won't be chopping off as I am not confident at all , i'm not hot headed enough to just trim without reason, but I am concerned about it turning herm at the points of extra growth , I guess all I can do is check it daily,I hate it when things happen and I don't know the cure or the cause.......Thanks for your input I am grateful =)

I'd just leave them. There are some equatorial sativas that will continue to throw out new buds and continue to stretch all the way through flowering and that is just their nature. Nothing to worry about in my opinion. What strain is that? Genetics?

The room is too hot causing this. This is the worst fox tailing I have ever seen ,how fuckin hot is it ????
The room is no way to hot , it's Air con controlled and steady temps, all equipment has been checked ? lights on never above 28 , off never below 15 , fresh air intake also and exhaust. My others are not doing it ? It was in direct line of a strong blowing fan at one stage , may that have caused it ? I would appreciate more input.....

Is that a regular occuring temperature difference between lights on / off ? (13 degrees / 55.4 F)

Cos temperature differences like that can induce quite a bit of stretching. (which could explain the extra long stems on the buds)

Never seen anything like that one, id figure its the malawi gold genetics that are causing that. How long has that strain your running been around? Maybe it hasnt had proper breeding, kinda sounds like a mash up. I thought malawi was an oldschool landrace strain or just a really old strain.

Yes this is right, big temp swing here. I also think some days it gets 30+ . You have to get temps below 26, these long loose stringy buds don't weigh much after drying/curing.

I have grown it before with no issue , I realise the stretchy bits won't weigh anything which is why I was going to cut them off ? The rest of the plant looks ok right or are you saying trash the lot ? , I can alter the temp to 26 no worries , it's just strange when everything else is ok...

The genetics are solid , loads of runs with the strain...

Always new seed or is it cloned? Did you do anything remotely different? Foliar feed with superthrive maybe? If its always new seed it could just be a bad seed or if its cloned it may becoming weak. Idk, just tryin to help.

To be honest I have seeds and clones , I can not remember which it is , I know I should have labelled it , I think it's a clone,
I have not really changed anything at all , although I have just started adding pk13/14 to try and help instead of the normal Vitalink....
