Considering switching from all perlite hempy to promix or perlite/promix hempy.

You go from hydro to a soil based medium. People have a hard time with hempy because they treat it as soil.
The most positive is less frequent watering and less runoff and wasted nutrients. Cons is a well dialed in hempy bucket outperforms soil grown plants every day of the week.
Easier to reuse peat than perlite. In peat you always have to combat low pH of the medium, perlite is inert.

I am using promix HP for the last few runs - From coco.
For the auto run I should have used something else perhaps as you cannot water as frequently and I would have liked to veg a bit harder.
I am an advcate of the Promix HP after using it. It is an inert media; after maybe the first two weeks of watering. Expensive though.

I mean, I know there is a semantics game we could play here about the definition of 'soil' but in practical terms promix is hydroponics unless you are using it by amending it with nutrient rich inputs prior to using it. To me the biggest pro of PM HP is that the growth rates are superior to traditional soil grows but you get some of the pH buffering benefits of them. Biggest con in my opinion is that over the course of a grow it seems that the buffering agents start to lose some efficacy.

Surely - As it gets acidic through its life causing CA lockout - I would ammend with Limestone
SS#4 is also a peat media and I prefer it to the HP in peat things.

Pro-Mix is peat based so yes it is. BX has added mycos that's about it.

HP also comes with MYCO ; I am resistant to soils with mycos or bacterias in them but it seemed to be ok.

After this bag I will reuse the promix - but I will most likely be going back 2 coco and / or SS#4

ok so less frequent watering might be nice, currently setting up auto feed for my perlite but either way I end up refilling the rez every other day. seems like the promix might hold more moisture then the perlite and give less dry backs?

Bx also has a lower percentage of perlite and some vermiculite. Hp and bx come with myco unless your getting the black bag promix hp

Promix HP - High Posterity. Meant for low humidity like desert. So it will retain moisture and also help prevent wilting
SS#4 also holds moisture due to its use of silica which I like and their own wetting agent. Also preventing wilting

never tried ss#4 , and like the idea of more silica but thats pretty easy to add as a foliar
