Private Breeders prices?

I have a question for you all... Ive been expanding my collection and ive noticed that there seems to be this vast divide in the private breeder's world. And private meaning that they aren't a large entity such as Barneys Farms, HSO, what have you. The divide being their prices... You can find some stellar genetics in Docs, Bodhi, Useful, and JOTI, to name a few; and they'll only run you about 60$. Now, you get into some of these other breeders, which also have nice genetics, but they run upwards off 100$+ a pack. My question is this, what merits this almost two-fold increase in cost, and what do you expect out of beans that cost 100$+? I havent pulled the trigger on any of them yet simply due to their prices and my expectations which would result from a 100$ purchase... But, from the threads of the grows; they look decent if not great. I'm just wondering if its worth it? Thanks for the opinions,

Its all up to you. Its all about what you want to smoke. I buy any and all packs .. price really is no reason for me to look elsewhere .. as anything found I can grow again and again over and over from clone ... and the fact that my set up is pristine, no bugs ever .. I think they aim for people like me. Some of the breeders dont have other work ? They are trying to make a living at it, so .. for me, I spend 250 on a pack .. I find killer pheno ( rare but happens) I can grow that now for ever .... so a 25$ bean turned into 1k + worth of product over the course of the next year ect. Worth it to me.

Great question!

In my opinion $100+ for a 10 pack isn't too much if the breeders have spent years stabilizing their lines before creating the strains. It would be well worth it as it the quality will more than offset the high price. :bigjoint:

However, if it's not even a "True F1" or "IBL" and the so-called "breeder" has just outcrossed 2 trendy strains to create a new "strain" that won't be genetically stable (Full of different phenos), that's what I call a scam :?

It really depends on who the breeder is and the amount of work he put in before releasing that strain.

Cheers,

I honestly dont get this type of mind set ... unless you guys are just throwing a bucket under a t5 .. I get it ... if you have no cash, you dont work, your in a illegal state ect ..

I honestly feel bad sometimes for these dudes making beans, everyone wants them to charge like 60$ to 80$ for a pack of 10 seeds that have been worked over for years .. years ... and then at that point like the dude above me ... ok you took this strain .. over the course of a coupel years .. stabilized it .. made sure .. spent money time and everything .. and this dude aladdin .. is all ..Ill give you a benny for it. Thats it. I feel you are undervaluing there work.

High prices don't mean Jack, I've got more fire in free stuff than most expensive packs.
I focus more on genetics, I look for what I want... terp profile mostly to see what I'm after. Certain genetics are harder to get so will generally cost more. Also look for reviews and feedback of the breeder to see what's up.

Docs Dank seeds, Csi Humboldt, greenpoint seeds, chuckers paradise, brisco county beans, karma, thug pug, JoTI, and peakseedsbc are all relatively cheap with some serious fire for under a 100 bucks.

That said you can also find some serious fire in In house genetics, archive, Raw genetics, Lit farms, and prolific coast seeds 150$+ packs.

After all how much you gonna spend on an Ounce if you forced to buy it?

It's literally all hype. If you're in the cool kids circle with the current flavor of the month hype moms, you can charge over a hundo or more. If not good luck!
Combine both of these post & you will get the answers to the seed game...

The way I see it,buying $100 plus packs from the most up to date breeders,is basically paying for "likes" and such..

You don't even have to grow the seeds, just buy them, post a pic of the packs...
It's a big + if you do grow them & show them & if the breeder "repost" your pics...
Then that alone on "IG" will help you gain followers..

Paying for attention..

Popular drug dealers.

Hi Mullalulla,

That I not what I meant at all! What I was trying to say is that there is a huuuuge difference between pollen Chuckers and real breeders.
I said that if the breeder really put in the work to release something both genetically and sexually stable, then it's worth the money!! It could be $100 or even $200 for a ten pack, I think it would be justified.

However if someone just does a quick pheno hunt and then outcrosses 2 F1s without stabilizing anything then it isn't worth a dime in my opinion. Any descent grower can be a pollen chucker. Breeding is time consuming and requires a lot of knowledge/skills!!!

Stable sexual orientation..... not going to happen.

Name a breeder that puts out 100% stable genetics?
None of them do.

It's more about getting people to follow your story, they don't need to know the person, just the story(genetics help) but people support the ones they feel close to.(but will never meet)

The seed game is a joke. People paying $20+ a seed for someone to cross Super Dooper Yellow Peach Cookies Sorbet with Chocolate Haze Kush Berry Skunk. So many people saw how the nutrient companies were gouging cannabis growers and they want in on the action. It's all about the money. With so many newer naive cannabis growers watching and believing all the infomercials on youtube and buying into the nonsense the money has never flowed with such force. People go on and on about Monsanto and other big corporations yet fail to see the money grab happening right before their eyes. And the deception and the shady tactics the smaller guy is using to get their money.

The Uzbek IBL by Underground seed Collective is super stable! The Skunk#1 by Sensi is also very stable... Some breeders do great work and it's usually not the most expensive ones...

I don't know how you can call "StrawberryGellatoBananaCookieSorbet" a strain, without even stabilizing anything and have 5 or 6 different phenos out of a 10 pack...

But I agree with you about getting people to follow your story... It's important to show people how you do your breeding and the passion behind it.

Yes that would definitely be a rip off. Unless both line have been stabilized for 5 to 8 generations and breed true for most traits and the F1 resulting from the cross would be a true F1 with hybrid vigor and great stability.

Most breeders would just pollen chuck but some breeders do the work.. And that means bleeding money for 2,3 or 4 years before making the first sale...

That's the problem there is not many if any working lines now days there after FAST MONEY and they just take 2 good clone only strains and cross them and call it good and sell the beans.I would pay a lot moor for beans that the line has been bread so at least 9 out of 10 plants look the same but that's not going to happen long as people just buy there crosses.I don't blam the men doing it for that's where the money is in just making crosses and it will never stop till people wount a worked line that COST MOOR MONEY and I would pay lots moor for a good worked line of beans.

So true!

Some do the work but it is not the majority. And the few passionate breeders that produce stable or at least relatively stable strains are not the ones making the money.. Until the day when people start looking for real uniform/true breeding strains...
