i now have dug a good ten holes, all 2.5ft by 2.5 ft by 2.5 ft. I now what im doing i just have a few questions regarding my soil.
What would be good to use, coming from walmart, or home depo. I was thinking a compost mix and sand.

1. How much soil is needed to fill one hole, in litres.
2. i Have pelletized domolite lime to control then ph but i was wondering how much would i mix in one hole.
thanx

15.63 cubic feet = 442.45 liters per hole.

Mix up a three gallon batch of your growing media in a nursery container, fill it with water and test pH of the runoff. Dolomite lime normally comes in powered form, has a neutral pH of 7.0 and is normally used to increase pH. Keep your pH ~5.8-6.8. Over 7 and you'll risk locking out nutrient intake.

thanks for the reply, so your saying i need 442 litres of soil for each hole?

and my mix is going to have part peatmoss in it, which i was told brings the ph down so the lime would neutralized it right?
this was the only kind of domolite lime the store had, it is time released i believe, still a good idea to use?

Time released is going to continually affect your pH, not a good idea.

Test the pH before adding any pH adjuster.

442 litres per hole that sounds a lot but i guess it could be right
dont use dolomite i would imagine the ph will proberbly need adjusting but not with dolomite especially time release it will really mess with your ph youll constantly be trying to get it right

well by adding the lime your also adding Mag. & Cal. which is good, but mostly the lime doesn't go over 7.0 or under. Even if your soil is acid or alkaline . yea ya

I prefer 6.8 as max pH for quality weed due to increased bacteria levels restricting soil microbe propagation and starving the plant by denying nutrient uptake at 7.0 grown outdoors so we'll have to agree to disagree.

if you fill the holes with potting soil the ph should be good enuf to grow weed in... do you think the roots will grow larger than the hole you dug?
