Premixing Nutes in 5 gal.

Like the title reads. Premixing a 5 gal jug with nutes and correct pH balance.

Can i store this safely when i want to refill my basin in my AG? I mean will it dilute over time?

Another question. When i do premix. Do premix the 5gal to the correct amount ratio for nutes. When i go to add it to a 1 gal reservoir it will have the correct ratio right? Not a 5 gal ratio in a 1 gal reservoir?

God i hope i explained that right!

Thanks for the time. I am going to be starting my first grow and have been reading for alittle while. But i havnt ran across this anywhere.

If you nutes say 1 teaspoon per gallon, then just drop a teaspoon into your res when its full. I don't know why you need to premix or whatever. Get dyna-gro nutrients, simple easy to use and great.

He probably wants to premix because he's excited. I wanted to also, but then realized it was just as easy to just drop the nutes in after I filled it. I think this also probably reduces nute burn because it isn't so much salts and minerals all at one time.

yea i am a bit excited. Building my stealth cabinet and wanting to get set up. Been reading some more and like you guys said. Just premix for next week. Add pH water when it gets a little low.

Thanks for the responses.

pre-mixing is infinitely superior to the "pour into reservoir" technique

a) much harder to fuck it up...if you pour in too much, oops! if you premix and use too much, you can just mix in more water

b) you can make small adjustments easier, and can top-off the tank with the same concentration nutewater as necessary, instead of trying to drop in 1/8ths of teaspoons every few days, or whatever.

c) I recommend using smaller container-sizes. I just use large 64-100oz water bottles, so I can have multiple nute concentrations, and for easier storage/mixing.

1 gal = 100oz, so fill a couple of 1gal jugs each with the appropriate mixture, pour one into start, and use the second one to top-off throughout the week :)

Like leova said, premixing is definitely the way to go.

I use a 2 gallon container that I have to refill every 3 to 4 days. Makes for way easier res refilling. Also keeps your ppm constant until you switch to the next step.
