If plants start showing signs of sex while vegging and your not ready to switch to a 12/12, is it alright to keep them vegging? Naturally, it seems that if they show signs of sex in a veg cycle, nature is trying to tell you to flower them. By keeping them in veg, will it stress the plant out or force it to go hermie? surely we dont want that.

how tall are they? if your growing indoors your probably best to flower them soon, unless your making a mother plant.. keeping it in veg is fine, what type of light are you using?

They have been vegging for a month, and they are only about 8 inches tall. they have just been transplanted into 2 gallon pots, and lighting is all cfl. 1 -85w 6500k, 3 -23w 3000k, and 4 18" fluorescent tubes. I think low amounts of air exchange have stunted the growth. Growing at different location in a closet, where I cannot alway control whats going on. Lights have been on 24 hours for a month as of yesterday.

sorry I dont have any pics. It is a shared grow, although I dont think the other grower cares much. Ive tried to get him rolling with the project, but theres not a lot I can do when its all out of my control. Also, is dry ice effective for giving them CO2?

IMO it is pretty rare that a plant will show sex during veg, however it is very possible that it does...this does not mean that you MUST flower her...i've hade my plant in veg for a little over a month and it's like a good 3 feet now...

its ironic that you state that you just transplanted your plants. I'm having the same issue with a ww plant that was under 24 hrs of light under a T5. I transplanted them yesterday and turnded the light off for 7 hrs and when I turned them back on I noticed two sets of hairs in the 2nd and 3rd node. I've been precise with every single aspect of growing with absoluetly no problems other than the one at hand. Any feedback on this issue would be appreciated from me as well. I'm pretty much confused as well dnkonic

When a plant matures around 3-4 weeks in veg (when all is going well and your not stunting growth) you should see the pre flowers as the plant hit puberty if you want to think of it like that. Also just because they show pre flowers you certainly dont need to change the light cycle as this plant would have to wait until natural harvest time which may be months away if it were growing outside. With autoflower this is different story as its going to flower no matter what light cycle you keep them under. Plants are supposed to show sex during veg as they hit maturity this is very common and expected.

from what i have seen, most plants all show their pre flowers when they are ready to be sexed. sometimes it happens after a month or so. i have known plants to not show pre flowers until 2-3 months + of veg. the strain/genetics will determine this. this doesn't mean you have to harvest them now.. it just tells you what you have. some folks i know take this time to "weed out" the males, let the females get to the size (easier growing a plant to 5' if you know it is a female rather than getting a bunch of trees to find out half are male) they want them to flower at and go to town. basically pre flowers just let u sort out your crop sooner than flippin the lights to 12/12 and waiting a week or two.
