if soil when you water first use 1/2 cup water after it soaked it up then add nute mix behind. and i found 600 ppm every other water is perfect.

ill give it a go cheers DC. yes im using soil, had the same problem with different strains for a while. so less nutes to hold at 600ppm?

I have tried nute - leave - just water - leave and repeat without the 1/2 cup method.

Im runnign a hybrid soil. its air injection soil. it sounds like your soil already has nutes in it. the reason most get nute burn is their soil gets to dry. you want 65-75% of water to be used when you water/feed. also mist them every day good. stop misting when they form buds. I run my plants at the lower side of nutes when my leaves on the bottom sow me signs ill up that kind of nute. learn your plants. research make youtube and google your home. we have so many questions already answered here. jsut google your question and click on RIU link.

thanks for your help, new here and still trying to find my feet on this forum. I have been leaving the soil to dry a little don't want to get root rot or anything. yes im sure the soil has a little nutes in it, its the same brand as my nutes and I followed the guide.

thinking of changing the soil anyway, thanks again, steve

your next grow in soil buy the breathable bags. they allow more oxygen into the soil. plastic pots are for holding water in longer and really are bad if you dont have air being pumped in. Best investment you can make is a breathable fabric pot.

not sure about pumping air into the soil, lol

when you re pot the plants in fresh soil, do you give the plant water for 2 weeks as the soil's ec will be high, after a weeks or two the ec will drop as the plant uses the food, then you need to start adding nutes, over the years I have grown more strains than I can remember and all of them needed ec between 1-1.5 ec, think that's between 700-1050

On a .7 conversion.

With a .5 conversion 1.0 EC is 500 ppm and 1.5 EC is 750 ppm.

There are three conversion scales and they are .5 .64 and .7

No reason to be sorry. jsut diff tech's is all. i got a tds meter to read ppm. the others you have to translate to ppm. i went the easy route.

then sorry mate I have no ideal, never used a tds meter, I have the blue truncheon and its lasted years

EC is the true reading.

TDS = Toatal Dissolved Solids/Salts and is read in PPM/Parts Per Million.

All TDS/PPM is is a conversion of EC and isn't as exact as EC.

I soak some of my soil first test it for ph/ppm if its all good then i use the rest. I use a air injection soil search google.

oh yeh for got about this, was explaining how to to use soil and hydro together, must be a year ago or more, just Google it, look different now never thought it would catch on

but getting back to the main point, you can grow a healthy plant in a bucket with no holes in the bottom, if you water the plants with the correct nutes and at the right times, you don't need any air pumped in the soil
