Powder nutes in DWC Bubbleponics?

Hi guys,

I've just started my first grow and my bubbleponics kit came with only 1 dl of the GH Flora Grow, Micro and Bloom. I've used that for the first round of nutes, but I need more.

And here's my problem: I live in a country far away from the U.S. and shipping 3 quarts of GH Flora would cost me 200 dollars in shipping alone... So... What about powdered nutrients? Does it work OK?

I've been looking at Stealth Hydroponics stuff (Stealth Grow, Bloom and Micro), but have no idea if it's any good for this kind of stuff. Can it be used? And should I use any other supplements (Big Bud etc.)? I want to try Lucas formula for this and have PPM- and pH-meter. Can anyone help?

Lucas Formula using General Hydroponics Dry Nutrients (Maxibloom)

MaxiBloom and MaxiGro are dry nutrient also from General Hydroponics. It turns out, Maxibloom, used in a ratio of 7 grams per gallon of water*, is very close to the original Lucas Formula (above.) You do not need MaxiGro, and so this is the cheapest and easiest recipe to use.
Add 7 grams of Maxibloom into 1 gallon of water*, and then adjust the pH, and stir vigorously to dissolve the Maxibloom in the water. I advise putting the 7g of Maxibloom into a cup of warm water, dissolving it, and then adding it to the remaining gallon of water, before pH adjusting and mixing again.

Thanks a lot for fast and helpful responses, guys.

So MaxiBloom is all I need through the whole grow phase?

I think powder nutes are actually better because when you buy liquid nutes your paying for the water they use to mix the powder.
Just take out the middle man. Plus the powder will last longer because it isn't diluted yet.

My first DWC grow ever was using garden store bought 10-10-10 fertilizer from veg to bud! So I can tell you with 100% certainty it could be done as long as the powder is good and liquid soluble and you keep your ph in the right range (5.7-6.1 for me) and keep the ppms low initially and gradually bring them up (no more than 800 at least initially).

however...

Today I use General Hydroponics FLoraNova series. It's sold as two bottles that are one formula each for grow and bloom. The Grow lasts forever because I don't veg long enough to use much of it, and my ppms are low initially since the clones can't take water with too many nutes. The bloom is just as simple....just mix with water and PH accordingly. From a shipping perspective it's two pretty heavy bottles. They pour like syrup! But they are nice and simple to master from a ppm perspective. I'm just sure this has never happened to anyone besides me on this forum (LoL), but mixing three part solutions after getting nice and ripped can....as simple as it seems...lead to human error. Which has led me to have to ditch a batch once or twice :) It really stinks when that happens. Hope this helps!

For the record i have used stealth hydro nutes for 2 grows and they came out wonderful! its not a bad line at all and i know the owner and hes a straight up guy. I currently use the technaflora line line of nutes and the starter kit can be had on amazon for 30 bux.

Hi guys!

I used MaxiBloom alone for a week and a half now and my plants got some heavy nitrogen deficiency and started shriveling up. Added some GH Micro to the mix and it seems like it's going to survive.

Just wanted to mention. Maybe not all plants can survive on MaxiBloom alone? And yes, I've kept the pH between 6.5-6.8.

That PH is WAY off!!!

Does anyone else have any experience using just Maxibloom for DWC?

I realize this thread is 7 yrs old...but I have to mention the PH range IF GROWING IN SOIL is 6.3 to 6.8. I would still keep it more around 6.4-6.6 personally. But I don't grow in soil...

Now if in hydro, we all know 6.5-6.8 ph is way too high.

Get a good scale and follow directions. Get a .00 scale if possible, you’d want to be precise especially if you dont have a trimeter. I’ve used powdered nutes from Future Harvest without issue in my RDWC.

AND you are paying for the shipping weight
