Welcome to Pounds qwest!

Here you can follow my quest to maximize yields in a small area. My idea is simple, my goal a worthy one, what is that goal?

To yield a minimum of 2 lbs of dried cannabis using the following tools:

4x4 tent
600 w hps
430 cfm exhaust fan
250 cfm fan for hood cooling
5 fans for internal airflow
Passive intake

As needed:

530 cfm fan pushing fresh air
A/C

Cultivars used:

I love OG's, they are my favorite, from the planetary lines to ghost to wifi back to sfv and more modern versions. Heavy, fuelly, potent. The kind of herb you dont let your newby buddy smoke. I procured Dogwalker og and Blood diamond og clones from an extremely reputable source in the mecca of california cannabis. 6 total, 4 to start now and 2 to use as moms for future rounds out pounds qwest.

I am using my tried and true modded waterfarms to reach my goals. I have used then many times before. Always loved the results.

Nutrients: Gen hydro 3 part, calmagic and armor si - Ive used it before & know how to work with it correctly - nuff said

My average temps are in the 70's, rh is in the 20% range on average with a 2 degree delta between tent and room.

Here is the set up:

And the ladies:

This is move in week so the light is dialed down to 200w, nutrients are 2.5 mil of gro, micro and bloom for 2 gallons. A very light mix.

Stay tuned, next week starts real vegging.

I'm about to run 3 waterfarms for the first time in a few weeks for my 2nd ever grow....will be watching how you work it if ya dont mind, i dont see many waterfarms recently just nets and tubs. I luv the idea of the waterfall. (I cant wait to finish out this fn coco)

What are your mods? extra holes top bucket, airstones in bottom? gl and 2# gonna be killer

Extra holes in the bottom and big air stones powered by big air pumps. It turns the system into a triple threat, recirculating, aeroponic, dwc hybrid.

Have you hit the 2 per 600 mark yet?
I've gotten close with my old set up, but it wasnt og's those runs.

Not even sure I'll hit it this run, but it'll be fun trying. The next few runs will be the same cultivars, hence the round 1 title. It may take a few to accomplish the goal and frankly, I have alot more tools with the ac and ready access to the producer of the cuts if I need advice.

Yeah OG strains tend to be lower yielding. I’m a big fan of OG strains though. It can be done, good luck I’m subbed.

Check in update, Im going to try to check in once during the week with a full update on the weekend.

20181010_104210.jpg

Currents condition in the tent is 72 with a relative humidity of 49% outside temp is 65 with 62% relative humidity.

Light is still dialed down to 200w. I will turn it up this weekend once I get my mother room finished up and the moms moved in. Thats them in the small 4 inch pots.

Not much change. Stay tuned.

Update:

The lamp was turned up to 600, this increased temps by 12 degrees and lowered rh by 4. Average is 84° with a relative humidity of 16%

To counteract this the 3rd blower was installed. The duct work will be rerouted to allow it to vent outside the room, intake run will also be pulling fresh air from outside. Im not expecting major changes but hopefully I can get the temps down to 75ish.

The girls are okay, looking a little stressed but not worryingly so. The 1st 2 weeks after transplant is always this way, its a waiting game.

The nutrient solution is now full strength. Armor si and calmagic have been added as well. See my notes pic for full details. Copious notes should be kept by all growers. Its something I neglected in the past and yes, my handwriting sucks.

20181014_022010.jpg

The only res on the dogwalker hsd a slight odor of wet clay with a hint of mildew. The reservoirs were disinfected with a 99% iso wash. If the odor persists, I will add some peroxide in my weekly change out.

This weekend will be busy, I have a mother's tent to build up as well as the duct work. I will also need to build mounts for the blowers and, if I have time, start construction of the cloner for eventual cloning operations. The moms will be moved into 10 gal smart pots with a no till soil mix. My no till mix is made up of bu's blend compost, coco coir, perlite, hay plus kelp, neem, crab meals as well as azomite and red worms. Crimson clover is companion planted and will be cut and covered as required. Pics next week.

If you see anything odd in my notes, feel free to ask. Questions are appreciated, as well as comments.

I got a 26 oz yield using 2 waterfarms with a 315 watt cmh over each plant... I've done some mods on my own waterfarms as well.. I have pics of the two WFs in a cmh thread i can link to if you want.
This is an excellent waterfarm thread.. The first 14 pages is a completed grow.. 11 ozs in under 100 days from seed using a 400 watt...

Having your WFs a few inches off the floor will make draining a WF easier if you have a need to..

Week 2 of veg is going well. I did some rerouting of the duct work to keep the intake air from blowing on any of the plants. I keep twice a day records of temps and humidity and will compare them and adjust as needed. Average was 80° and relative humidity was 33%. The #2 blood diamond og experienced some stress the past week. The intake ducting got moved and ended up blowing almost directly on bd og 2. Thats why I rerouted it and added the elbow.

The plants have grown alot. The only two dog walkers are very vigorous and have impressive root balls living in the res. The blood diamond og's are slower growing and very stocky. Both have roots beginning to show, hopefully they will hit the res this week.

I did a water change and disinfection including the airlines and airstones as well as the reservoirs. One stone broke while being cleaned, a replacement is on its way.

I gave them a heavier nutrient mix, ppm is at 880, but my well water comes from the well at 250 ppm, so its actually 530 from nutrients. I also added 10 ml of h2o2 to keep bad bacteria under control. The solution was buffered to 5.43

2 ml armor si
6 ml calmagic
10 ml flora gro
2.5 ml flora bloom
10 ml flora micro
10 ml h2o2

First up, the dog walker og's

Quick update:

I've been monitoring my reservoirs more frequently and have some interesting data.

My ppm and ph readings are as follows:

Initial ph/ppm after rez change on 10/21 is as follows:

DW1: 5.41 ph, 880 ppm
DW2: 5.43 ph, 880 ppm

BD1: 5.50 ph, 751 ppm
BD2: 5.43 ph, 887 ppm

Readings taken on 10/23:

DW1: 6.82 ph, 525 ppm
DW2: 6.73 ph, 512 ppm

BD1: 7.23 ph, 480 ppm
BD2: 6.66 ph, 479 ppm

10/24

DW1: 6.69 ph, 726 ppm
DW2: 6.77 ph, 790 ppm

BD1: 7.07 ph, 797 ppm
BD2: 6.84 ph, 768 ppm

I dont have enough data points yet to make a hypothesis but I will continue to gather data. If anyone has insight, I'd love to hear it.

The mother room is in order, clover has sprouted on the pots I am prepping, the moms still look stressed but that will improve. Worms are moved in as well:562087040.jpg

Why are you letting your ph rise so high? 7.82?(Waterfarms)

I let mine rise to 6.1 then adjust, same if it falls below 5.7....also they are quite small to have such a high ppm, but maybe thats ok with what nutes you’re using? My ppm at that stage is only about 350ppm. I see a bit of burning maybe. Can u post pics with lights of in normal light

I’m vegging this babies and others while I work on my flowering tents, but they are kept at 5.8ph and 450ppm.

Nutes are gh 3 part plus armor si and cal magic, yes, a bit of nute burn on last change. I'll grab some pics around noon once the lights go off.

There has been no browning of roots, all have hit the rez at this point and are beautiful bright white. The dogwalkers especially.

Besides the leaf tips, the plants look great, with vigorous growth. I did have a bit of aquarium smell after the first week so its possible I am getting a bit of algae growth in the hydroton.

I've never monitored my grows this intently. Previous hydrofarm grows I only bothered to check once a week and that was at rez change. I didnt even bother with ppm, lol.

I'm keeping closer tabs this time since I plan on growing these cultivars for a while. Collecting data to get it dialed in just right.
