Pot Size?

This question usually leads to dissension but am looking for educated opinions. When vegging for 30-40 days I have noticed using a 5 gallon pot seams excessive. My rootmass barely uses any of the available space with the strains I grow. I have experimented with a pot as small as 2 gallons with great success without any root bound issues. Input?

why not top them and veg for an extra 2 weeks and they should fill out that 5 gallon pot..also co2 makes a big difference

Good advice but if your schedule is locked in at 30-40 days veg doesn't it make good sense to go to 3 gallons and increase the space for more plants?

your all wrong because it's different for everyone. i can have a 10 gallon root pot root bound in 4 weeks. use root beneficials like roots excelurator or greatwhite and your roots will triple in size. you'll see increased yields as well. the best dollar spent in a grow room is a dollar spent on beneficial bacteria and fungi.

3 months in a three gallon? that container wouldnt even hold a quart of water it would be so rootbound.

please stop getting all your facts from this website and realize the 90% of the users here talk out of their asses.

Definitely a STRANGER! Everyone is different and yes there are many ways to chemically/organically increase your root mass and ya I like bigger yields but not at the expense of using pots that decrease my yield because I can grow more plants. I could fill a pot in two weeks if I polluted my product to the Nth degree. By the way this website is not necessarily how I glean knowledge but rather gain insight in others successes by trying different techniques/strategies. HMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM!

I hope this isn't my ass speaking!

Spell check!

i repot once i place them into the flower room, so they're typically 60 days in the larger pots. when i started, i used 5 gallon buckets. after realizing how much dirt had no roots in it (all in the middle of the bucket), i went down to 3 gallon. these were perfect and much less soil to move about.

i'm now using smart pots and i'm experimenting with a 5 gallon to see how it fills out compared to the 3 gallons.

Nah it's just you could like "ease your way in" instead of guns blazing ,
Different size pot's work for different people with different strains in different grow areas,
I have no idea on the level of your "growing skills" are ,
But your attitude sucks,
Evening :joint:

has anyone ever made their own smart pots?..i have thought i could make my own using a heat gun and 5 gallon buckets..any thoughts?

10 gal root pot - $6 why bother? i'm a firm believer in paying a little green for convenience and i keep my local hydro guys in buisness and employed

i like to use a small, medium and large pot. I have a tiny seedling pot until i can easily pull it out and put the whole root and soil mass into a medium pot to veg. then the same again into a 3 to 5 gallon (depending on how long i vegged) to flower. Doing this just right also eliminates transplant shock.

I hope YOURSELVES includes me because the way it sounds is your sitten there by yourself doing the jerkin while were all getting some answers.
